Does the placement of objects in caves (campfires, standing torches etc.) stop mobs spawning?
Same as outside as far as I'm aware. Foundations, Pillars with Ceiling and fences. Camps fires and standing torches shouldn't effect spawns. But I have read somewhere that you need to be present in a cave to activate it's spawns. So if you haven't seen any spawns it might just be a case of waiting.
Indeed it does, like sith a caves at he start of his cave nothing will spawn if you go further down things will be there where the boundaries of the foundations end.
So if a few of us organise a trial run into a cave should we destroy all placements when done so as to not spoil it for other adventuring parties?
No idea but count me in :)

I should say that nothing spawns in the parts where have built anyway. Although I'm wondering whether that was because Sith built before anything had chance to spawn. Still, from what I can tell nothing really spaws until you cross that narrow walk over the cavern.

Seems sensible, just stick some thatch down and a bed so ppl can get back to the action quicker. :)
I am planning on doing the lower south cave this evening.
I was going to place a bed outside the cave and then a few standing torches inside as we go along to light the way and so we don't get lost. I don't think these will affect spawns in the cave.
I don't want to go in mob-handed, a group of maybe 3 or 4. So far I have 2 victims.
It's a low level cave so doesn't need rocket launchers.
The prize will be a Hunter Artefact.
