So those who know me will know that Im a super salty person when things dont go my way...
Solo queue in this game is broken, i have lost ten ranks since last night because people dont know that this is a team game. I have had so many issues with randoms just playing who they want to play and not who the team needs. So many matches Ive gone into and you end up with like 2 reapers, a tracer and 2 widows. This is fine when its quick play but in ranked its unacceptable. Blizzard really need to fix this. I think some sort of system like in LoL when you choose a role and can only play that role and a game wont start until you have a least one of each role. This isnt just me btw, Ive done a lot of research into it and it seems to be the consensus that people dont like playing solo in this game. The people who want to play seriously cant because people treat it like its call of duty and just rush to get kills so they can get play of the match. I really hope blizzard do something about this.
So thats it, Im done playing solo because its broken
I hope i dont sound like a dick saying it but i just had to vent and i know some of you guys will agree
(At work so forgive quick reply)
I understand the frustration bud, unfortunately competitive will only ever work when the whole team communicates and is willing to play as a team.
Its hard enough when we play as a team within dmw. Let alone queuing solo.
Hence why i will only queue competitive as a dmw team.
I can 100% understand the frustration bud but unfortunately there might only be small pockets within the community who play competitive and join the queue alone who will manage to scrape wins. (imo). Those are the lucky few.
I agree somewhat with your grievances in regards to making sure different roles are picked. But some strategies can work (do a search for 4 zarya 2 lucio on hanamura). But competitive mode is in place for teams that are organised and queuing solo your gambling your ranking due to group you might get bud.
I do hope they fix a lot of things soon as you are right a lot of people are just trying to get PotG or just rushing in to an awaiting team to get slaughtered.

But on plus side razer are running a competition for PotGs

Maybe thats what they are going for? 🙈

I don't see how Blizzard can fix this? This is a problem with Human nature, not the game..
You don't need a tank every game if the enemy team is running 3 reapers, being forced to play a tank will put you in a disadvantage at that stage.
The issue is with the community, not the game it self.
Agreed it's rubbish.. it's why I only play when I'm playing with other dMw. Even teams of 2 or 3 make it more bearable!
It feels like Blizzard haven't got the matchmaking calibration right at all. There's a huge variation in skill levels at the 55-ish range it put me in, which is making things a bit toxic at the moment - I wouldn't touch it again without being grouped up.
the worst is when you solo queue and you actually win one but the other team have 3 people who quit 3 seconds before the end of the match so you only gain like 10% of the XP you should have :(
There are knobs. It is a fact of life. Unfortunately there are more of them than you would like and unless we implement a eugenics program we are stuck with them.
That is one reason why I very rarely play solo online games, I would rather play with idiots I know than ones I don't.
Hear Hear, well put Snooks, I love to play with idiots I know, makes me feel normal and at home and not like I am out of this world when I solo queue.
Q Why no heals?
A I healed/tanked the last 50 games

I think I'm done with quick play and will just queue comp now.
Moved your post twisted, into a thread that previously discussed such things...
We have all felt this way mate, when going in solo!
Best to team up with us as I know you have been doing. If you're keen to play a certain role / not play a certain role, make it known. I will happily fill the healer void :)

You never let me play anything other than Zen! :(
Good games last night when we all got together.
If I jump in quick play now it's just to warm up for comp. I've give over trying to get a result in solo queue quick play.

...but that's what you play. I wasn't sure you knew there were more options in the game! :winkiss2:
I'm an extremely competetive person, which is why I tend to select the class/hero that I am best at when we play comp. When I play comp I expect people to play what they know best and what is most benificial to the team. If I "have to" play a hero that I'm not good at or used to in comp, I'll just be upset and not enjoy the game. I know that if I struggle, there's most likely someone else in the team who's better at that certain hero and therefore it would be better to have them play it and have me fill what ever they were doing. Learning heroes is what quick play and training is for.
Sorry if I'm a douche with the selection :(
I dont care what i play as awesome with all ðŸ˜,
But in all honesty - can understand where all points are coming from. Im notorious in character select screen for waiting till i see what everyone has selected and will fill in where needed. My view on things is that you need to be at least competent with majority of the characters as it may be that character that can turn the tide of the battle. And also gives you an understanding of how different synergies work.
Just my 2c ðŸ'

Its tricky in comp, cause generally we all wanna win :D And I know some are very good with certain players, so I stay away from them to let them use it, etc. I have some preferred characters myself too, of course, and if I think I can be useful in a certain role I will fill that.
That said I want everyone to be having fun, and if someone is stuck playing a class they don't like that can be hard, so I am happy to swap out or ask others to swap out in favor of the fun, which at the end of the day I consider far more important than the win :P
I agree with you Milli that you must be proficient with most of the characters. At least on a basic level to be able to counter certain enemy strategies, but for me being "ok/basic" with a character is not enough in comp and that's what I mean when I say that you (or at least I :narnar:) need to train inside quick play instead of in comp. Don't settle for good. Settle for excellent! :)
Queuing single player comp is just as bad.
I must be the crap player, because I have won one game, and about 20 lost tonight. My rating is pants.
At least in comp people try, the thing I hate most about casual is having multiple of 1 hero, and having people quit and join half way through. Nightmare.
But ya, solo play in either is pretty bad! Best to post on here and team up with some when you're gonna play.. I will make a thread for that ;)
last 4 ranked games in a row had either 1 tank or 1 healer. Guess who was the tank or healer?
:/
Are you using game comms? Or even text chat if not.. try to get people to change, sometimes it works.. sometimes they're just stubborn muppets though :/
Not to rub salt in the wound for anyone, but I found solo queuing quite alright. All the teams I played in knew 2/2/2 was the best setup. Naturally I selected Ana/Zen and when a public didn't adhere to the 2/2/2 my toxic public team mates would soon let them know with some 'choice' words of encouragement.
Maybe it was just a good day, or maybe once you get passed a certain level the public's are just more competent.
I talk to people. They get salty to suggest that they play their non favoured toon and that others should change instead. As a result, no-one changes and it's a loss.
What really grates though is the abuse I get after the game for even daring to suggest it. That alone does not encourage communication.
Big difference in solo depending on rank. Obviously the higher the rank the more willing to actually work as a team the publics are.
There was a message on the forums that suggested season 2 ranking had been screwed up.
Might be worth a read:

That only says there were more players in high ranks than expected. Currently doesn't apply to me.
But it might apply to you if it lowers some of us and let's us group again. The restrictions are annoying.
I can group with some of you as I found out a few nights ago .... just not everyone.
What number are you at, I'd be more tHan happy to try to help you climb if possible. I'm around 2500
