Legion seems interesting, the story sounds like a continuation of Warcraft 3 and frankly, I always liked demon hunters.
So, what has changed in WoW since Burning Crusade? For some specific reasons, I had to stop playing back when Gruul was extremely hard and SoG was doing Karazhan.
I have tried Google, but frankly the information I'm finding was written back in 2014.
Can anyone help?
Very much have changed since TBC, first and foremost is that the game is now much more simple now, or as I've called it a few times, its "baby proof".
Since TBC we also have had 2 new classes, 3 with Demon hunters in Legion and that is Death Knights and Monks. We also got 3 new races , Goblins (horde), Worgens (Alliance) and Pandaren (Both)
But found this site on the official wow website that perhaps can explain a bit more than I can be asked to type :narnar: https://worldofwarcraft.com/en-gb/return (https://worldofwarcraft.com/en-gb/return) and if you want to know more per expansion I guess it is possible to just search for the main features for every expansion.
Thanks Mich, I did read that page, but it's quite a high level overview. Can someone answer some specific questions?
Are resource nodes/chests still a competition between players? Back then, players were douche bags trying to get the node you're mining by clicking constantly on the node, etc. GW2 has a system which "instances" nodes, so everyone gets his own node on the same spot, which I prefer.
Is leveling still a bore, and does it still take so much time as the old days?
Is gold still hard to earn? Buying my mounts back then took a stupid amount of time. Had to resort to borrowing. (I'm not into AH flipping)
Are professions still 2 primaries per character?
I read that character toons have new textures. Did the world also get an upgrade?
Are there any quality of life improvements worth knowing about?

Levelling is now very different, most people level through the dungeon finder which unlocks at level 15. This will find you a group to do a dungeon with and you earn an insane amount of XP through dungeon quests and just generally completing the dungeon. Its much much quicker to level that what it used to bed.

Gold is insanely easy to earn. 70g for completing a dungeon, 150g for completing a section of "looking for raid" (dungeon finder for raids) You'll get around 1700g for completing firelands (an old raid (lvl 85)) which takes around 15 minutes. Failing that, you can now officially buy gold from blizzard, around 80,000g for £15 I think it is.

Yes, theres also now Archaeology as a secondary profession.

Alot of the world and creatures are being upgraded to HD textures.

As mentioned above, Dungeon Finder, looking for raid. There's also now Heirlooms and Premade group finder. As Hal says, it's baby proof.
Also worth mentioning about class changes in Legion is they went a bit back to the roots a bit, and focused on making them fit a bit more in line with the fantasy. I really like what I've seen so far, and hope it keeps delivering.
You do get a free character boost with the expansion, so no need to level up all the way from 70. Leveling has become much faster however, and once you unlock the random instance function you blast though the levels. Especially if you have the heirloom items which grant bonus xp. It slow down a bit once you hit lvl70 and again once you hit 85. The content from 90 to 100 is quite fun to play though, and I hope Legion questing/leveling is as much if not more fun.
Didn't the talent system also change since TBC?
Also the amount of you have Mana is hard capped, atleast i dont think they removed that for Legion.

@vargen, I had the chance to play Beta and I did enjoy the questing. The lore is good and because of the scalling zones you dont have to leave a zone and therefor can stay in that zone to finish the lore.

Damn glad I sold my spare accounts when I did then, the exchange rate was *way* better!

Ah, this is great news!
Thanks for the answers.
To answer my own question (and perhaps otheres) on resource nodes:
QuoteIf you have any of the gathering Professions, you know how frustrating the process can be. You swoop down to pick an herb only to have someone click it seconds before you did. Even worse, you are fighting a mob in front of ore. All you have to do is defeat it and you can mine away. Just as you kill your foe, another player takes your node without a second though. You are filled with rage and loathing.
Legion stands to bring that rage into check. No longer will nodes be stolen from any player. Instead, each node will be shared. Every player that sees a node to collect will be able to harvest it. Hallelujah.

QuoteGatherers will no longer have to compete for ore and herb nodes â€" they will be shared like the nodes in Guild Wars 2.

Does anyone know if these are still valid?

Any idea if currencies are going to be changed to account wide?
The gathering thing is correct, apart from skinning, which is unchanged. Currencies I don't know.
