Title: QuadRooter vulnerability app
Post by: TeaLeaf on August 08, 2016, 09:26:16 AM
App to see if your phone is vulnerable to QuadRooter.

https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.checkpoint.quadrooter

QuoteThe Check Point QuadRooter Scanner analyzes your Android smartphone or tablet to discover if it’s vulnerable to the newly-discovered QuadRooter vulnerabilities. QuadRooter allows attackers to take complete control of Android devices, potentially exposing your sensitive data to cybercrime. The scanner app is designed to give you clear indications of the threat risk to your device and provides more information about QuadRooter, including which vulnerabilities affect your device and how they work.

Thanks for that. I've had three of the four issues patched on my Nexus 6P and AFAIK Google are working on a fix for the forth which should come in the next monthly patch. What scares me most is how people who own a non Nexus phone, bought through a mobile phone carrier will fair? How long till their manufacturer bothers to apply a patch?

More worrying still is that a phone bought through a mobile carrier like O2 or EE will need to wait till the carrier takes the patch and sends it out to their customers. I suspect millions of mobile phone users will never a see a fix for this vulnerability ever.

I've got one vulnerability on my Oneplus One - luckily it's using the Cyanogen OS (13.1.1) so should get patched reasonably soon.

QuoteIn addition, Mr Shaulov said Android owners should only download apps from the official Google Play store to avoid falling victim to malicious programs.

Which hopefully will keep me safe anyway.

My China plaything comes back with a nice big green tick.

But I did do a bit of malware purging when I got it.
