Heavy Flamer, 1000 burgers per second! This looks rather nice. Like Warframe vs The Infested, the visuals are amazing.

I'm interested, sure, but sceptical. Asymmetrical gameplay can work well, but the last asymmetrical shooter that promised to bring the second coming (Evolve) flopped and flopped hard.

I'd like to see a PVP element - it is part of what makes L4D so much fun. Without that I would worry this would be fun for the first few goes through the missions, but ultimately short-lived.

One to keep an eye one though, sure.

I like PvE in a Co-op setting personally. It presents a challenge that players can research and prepare for that can be more fun than PvP especially when everyone is out just to win at any cost.

Warframe is my example of a PvE game (mainly although there is PvP) where the challenge is fun and it makes team mates co-operate or lose.

Also interested bros, but really just need to see who actually commits before I can justify it, since teammates are a must...

I want this to be good, loved the old board game, but GW games these days are more hit than miss.

Apart from the very similar Vermintide (http://www.vermintide.com), which was great. I'll wait to see how it goes down on release, because remember... pre-ordering is for chumps!

I've just been brushing up on my 40k lore and came across this little gem:
QuoteLegends state that a band of Deathwing returned to the recruiting world of their birth only to find their people enslaved to Genestealer invaders. The brethren repainted their armour, symbolising that they were dead men walking.

Its a sign.

Not to bring it up for the 10th time, but Project Cars, touted big time in dMw (due to certain members investing in their development) turns out none of them played it more than like once and the game was in no wasy promoted for adoption in dMw.

The earlier games Space Hulk and it's clone Space Hulk: Ascension were really terrible, mainly due them both being PC simulations of a board game.....done badly. The board game itself was genius. So I'll also be waiting for the reviews.

Didn't you pre-order Deus Ex? I recall you commenting on the in game store and pre-order reward from "someone who actually has played the games perspective"? [emoji57]

If I seea good deal pre-order or once it's released the pre-order keys on the grey market become cheaper then I tend to buy.

Agreed 100%

Currently far too many games that promise the moon on a stick turn out to be a pile of crap. There seems to be a nasty business plan creeping into the industry - of producing a really great looking game trailer, offering a discount for pre-orders and day one DLC while refusing to release any review copies to journalists and reviewers. The the game launches and we get what we get.

I'll also not continue to get suckered into this and will wait for reviews. There are still many great games being released and most do still offer copies for review (as Deathwing may well do). But there are enough crappy games out there offered for pre-order for it to be just a lottery and one I'll not be throwing my money at.

Deathwing does look like it might be a very nice multiplayer game. Co-op can be a fantastic game play style. Some of my best gaming moments have come from Arma co-op. I love the Warhammer world and once the reviews are in hopefully this will be on the 'buy now' list.

Interesting footage and while I have no specific extra knowledge about the game, no not at all, definitely not........ there are a couple of things that do occur to me.

The game is very atmospheric, true to the source material and the sound is amazingly eerie and atmospheric.
Graphics are good as is the lighting.
Controls are nice with lots of configuration options.... apparently.
It does play like L4D2 in many ways which is no bad thing.

However the enemy AI isn't really a thing. The gene-steelers see you, the gene-steelers run at you. That's about it. The hybrids see you, the hybrids shoot at you. The idea of ambush and or cover isn't really a thing for them. Much like the zombies in L4D2.
Melee combat looks like a mess. Think of the boomer puking on you and you getting zerged by zombies. It's just a mad melee button mash until you either die or the enemy stops coming. It needs fixing. A game like Doom is openly a mad frenzied slaughter-fest and that's fine. Some maybe hoped that Space Hulk DW will be a slower more tactical game with greater depth and the opportunity for better co-op.

But ultimately while the game is decent enough, from the video footage, there's no real WOW that's amazing feel to it. It all seems a bit of a generic run, gun and slash game. The area control and slow careful progression requirements of the board game don't seem to have translated to a FPS.

I assume beta testers are just checking the game works (and it does ..... apparently) so maybe there will be really fun amazing maps and missions in the full game that were missing in the beta? Maybe when a group are playing together with voice comms and the dMw style of close co-op it might be much better.

There still seem to be no review copies and I would strongly suggest we wait for official reviews from our trusted sources. A publisher that doesn't release a review copy is a publisher with something to hide. Be cautious.

But what do I know it's all just speculation eh.

It's listed in your library as a seperate game called DEATHWING BETA or something to that effect, only 4GB to download.

Gave it a go, felt a little like Titan Fall but slower. It ran very well, no performance issues on Max settings. A mini-learning curve needed to master the holographic menus but I think it will be fun.

Ditto. Felt laboured and slow. Not in a bad way as I think it suits. I was surprised to see the inclusion was the strategic menu. With everyone playing things so quickly, I didn't expect them to bring the 'table top' aspect into this version of Spacehulk. I can definitely see some small unit tactics happening. Quite excited now.

QuoteConcerned to see that they are unwilling to release any review copies.

This is either one way or the other. They want it to be a surprise and are trying to wait off on it. Or... they're expecting it to be a bust.

So the reviews are in and Steam says "mixed".

In a nutshell if you were hoping or Alien Isolation in the Warhammer Universe then sorry you're getting Left 4 Dead in space without the humour.

L4D2 was fun for a while but I'll pass on this. The Beta was very much  like L4D2 when you get puked on by a Boomer, with no real skill involved just mad button mashing till either you or the horde of Aliens (zombies)were dead.

I'm finding it totally different to L4D personally. It's got a richer story and isn't as chaotic. I like.
