Title: Xmas CS:GO tourney
Post by: Blunt on November 06, 2016, 11:35:50 PM
I'm thinking that we should sort a day for the Xmas tourney.

Xmas day is Sunday, I think something like the following weds or Thurs (28th or 29th) would be good, although I'm not bothered if some other day is picked.

Last Xmas we had the luxury of 4 rental servers, I've no idea what the setup will be this year, any suggestions welcome.

We had 40+ people last year, all of them registered on the forum and a lot of them still with us, and I'm hoping that with some server adverts we can swell our ranks a bit more.

So post up you preference for when, and any suggestions you have.

Sounds good, I've not been on the server in a while but I'll make sure to hop on and get some practice in (that way I might be able to kill Pesteh)

I'll call the 29th then so as not to clash with OW Wednesday.

What are we using to change maps etc? I'm happy to help out and stuff but I'm currently using the ingame console to change map so it's rather time consuming, are we using some other software?

On Boomer you can use 'sm_map de_blahblah' in console, which is deffo quicker than working your way through the menu.

I fired up a new virtual machine for the xmas tourney (that charges by the hour, rather than monthly). Test server is up, but I'm not sure what performance is like.
getting sourcemod and metamod to work as intended is always a bit of a ball-ache, so I'm not sure if I'll be installing it just for the xmas tourney.

worst case, you'd have to admin via rcon (or HLSW)
in csgo console 1) 'rcon_password xxxxxxx' 2) 'rcon change_level de_dust2'  3)'rcon kill pesteh'

If you wanna run any other command, just type it out in console without the rcon at the front and it should auto-complete the command, or give you available suggestions. Once you've identified the one you want, add rcon to the front of it to execute.

how many server will we need total? Is Boomer going to be used?
I still have my other multiplay server + a new virtual one (needs testing). I can spin up as many virtual ones as required. but will need some notice to get them all up and running correctly.

I could host one on the server machine if needs be but I would suggest uses this as last resort :)
