i already have a ssd but also have a m2 slot on my mobo, i don't really know much about m2 is it worth it over ssd?

what motherboard is it? as not all M.2 slots are NVMe compatible.. I seem to remember when they first came around some were only SATA based.

M.2 NVMe SSD's are about 2 - 3 times faster in quite a few benchmarks, but real world.. who knows if you would see much difference.

asus maximus 8 hero, it has a m2 socket 3 type m slot.

I've got m.2 NVME drives in 2 of my desktops, on paper they outperform the SSD's. But I can't say I noticed much of a difference during normal usage or gaming.
Personally I'd safe the money and buy a bigger SSD.
