Title: LAN XXXI Itinerary
Post by: Chaosphere on January 14, 2017, 09:49:01 AM
LAN XXXI
May 4th - 7th

We have prepared a rough itinerary for the upcoming LAN for your perusal. This is NOT a booking thread. No, GhostMjr, you cannot book your room yet That will come soon.

We wanted to make some changes to these LANs, and the things you see here are only the first - we want to mix the LANs up and keep each a little different, without too drastically altering the core of the experience that brings us all back together twice a year. Some of the changes you see at this LAN will return to future LANs, some may be used on a trial basis and not return - we will be collecting feedback and ideas from you guys accordingly to help us keep making improvements to the events! There are things we still have up our sleeves that we are keeping back for now - these will be brought into LANs in due time.

We hope this itinerary gets your juices flowing, and we hope to see you putting your names down in the booking thread when it opens up soon!

THURSDAY NIGHT CLUB
For those of you able to arrive early. I will be at the LAN from around midday. The LAN room will not be open, but there will undoubtedly be coffee, beer, and maybe some fish & chips for lunch. The festivities don’t get going until the evening though, so don’t fret if you can’t make it for High Noon.

12:00+ - Arrive at the Cromwell.
18:00 - Pizza Night. For this LAN, we are ditching the organised curry. It will return at a later LAN. We will be collecting orders in advance for Pizza, and getting it delivered to the LAN room for around 18:00. If Pizza isn't your thing, you will be able to order an alternative from the Hotel, or one of the other options March itself provides.
19:00-19:30 - Poker Night. For this LAN, we are keeping the Poker as ran by Gortex. That said, expect to see some changes to this 'slot' in the future!
21:00+ - Mystery Gaming. We have something a bit different planned for you guys here. You don't need to bring anything with you to participate.

FRIDAY
11:00 - 13:00 - Ad hoc gaming. We will be running a Team Fortress 2 Server at some point this morning, so get your copy installed and jump on for some manic team-based shenanigans.
14:00-16:00 - Ad hoc gaming. We will be running a CoD4: Modern Warfare Server during the afternoon. You will need a LEGITIMATE copy of CoD4 to participate. Steam or Disc should be ok! This can be picked up for less than a tenner online if you don't already have it, but want to take part.

It is worth noting now that neither of these games will be run as competitions, nor are they essential. If you do not want to play them, no problem! There will be other things going on in the room throughout the day.

18:00 - Steak Night.
21:00 - Unreal Tournament. We will be running a server of the Classic Unreal Tournament, GOTY Edition. This can be picked up on Steam for less than a fiver - grab it and join us Friday night for an Old School Frag Fest!

SATURDAY
11:00-13:00 - Mystery Tournament. To keep the day varied, this one won't involve iron sights or headshots. You don't need to bring anything with you to participate, we have it covered.
14:00-17:00 - NvG Deagle. We will be trying out some new maps this LAN!
17:00-19:00 - Overwatch. 6v6 or 3v3 depending on numbers. Teams will be seeded to keep things balanced.
19:00 - Food! Sort yourself out from the Hotel or one of the options in March.
20:00+ - CS:GO Tournament. New maps, new modes, seeded teams.

These times are only a rough guide, as things may overrun on the day! We will keep you updated throughout.

SUNDAY

10:00+ - Breakfast. There will be a bit of light ad hoc gaming for those of you wanting to scratch that itch a little more before heading home.
After that it’s time to pack up, travel safe, and start the countdown till the Autumn LAN.

There are a few little things to note.
First, there will be prizes for the tournaments, including the Unreal Tournament on Friday Night.
Secondly, there will be a ‘Casual Corner’. Casual / social gaming was one of the main things you guys wanted to see more of at the LANs. I don’t want to go into exactly what we have planned for this, but hopefully it’ll make a pretty cool new addition to the room.
Finally, we want your feedback from this. If there are things this LAN that you like, or don’t, we will want to know about it. The survey gave us loads of great information. We are trying to make changes based on what the majority do or don’t like, and some things are more clear cut than others. We will continue to make adjustments to every LAN, guided by you.

We aren't planning any Soldat into the itinerary at the moment mate, but that doesn't mean it won't be played. The games above are really only as a 'this is what we are providing' in terms of servers. No doubt other things will happen as and when :)

But don't worry, we haven't forgotten just how fun the Deadathon was. I am sure Soldat will return to a LAN in the near future :)

On that note - of course if there are other games you'd like to see at LANs, my door is always open :norty:

Is the 'Catch the Chicken' mod available for CS:GO? That always used to be a load of fun on a Friday evening after a few sherbets.

Was fun to see how well that was received. It was an old lan classic for me, one I missed over the past few years.
Best keep it around ten players though, anything more was just mayhem [emoji13]
