Title: F1 Flight Series
Post by: TeaLeaf on March 19, 2017, 05:08:12 PM
This year I thought I would add a little direction to my usually random selecting of routes to fly in FSX:SE, by trying to fly the freight of the F1 circus around the world, starting from the UK and flying to:

March 26: Melbourne, Australia
April 9: Shanghai, China
April 16: Bahrain, Bahrain
April 30: Sochi, Russia
May 14: Barcelona, Spain
May 28: Monte Carlo, Monaco
June 11: Montreal, Canada
June 25: Baku, Azerbaijan
July 9: Spielberg, Austria
July 16: Silverstone, United Kingdom
July 30: Budapest, Hungary
August 27: Spa-Francorchamps, Belgium
September 3: Monza, Italy
September 17: Singapore, Singapore
October 1: Sepang, Malaysia
October 8: Suzuka, Japan
October 22: Austin, USA
October 29: Mexico City, Mexico
November 12: Sao Paolo, Brazil
November 26: Abu Dhabi, UAE

I'll be loading up a PMDG 747 or 777 (but any tubeliner will do) and using a Freight version with either a Polar or UPS skin to try to at least pay some homage to the fact I am hauling Freight!

Rules of the game are pretty basic:
Melbourne triggered an opportunity to purchase Orbx Melbourne, so that's my first destination, via Dubai.

Anyone fancy giving it a try with me or doing an occasional leg or two?

Right, I'm off to Dubai now!

Due to an annoying OOM I never got around to finishing this flight, so I'll be trying again on lower settings and without Active Sky weather next time to reduce the VAS load a little bit.

If I may ask two questions?

Why the stop is that just refuel or do you have rl commitments and that flight is too long to do in one shot?

It's a bit of both Toby.

As far as I am aware, there are no non-stop flights from London to Melbourne at the moment, so I am simply following what is available in real life as my flight planning software sources from available or recent RL routes.

The 9,000 mile flight is technically possible in one go, but by very few airframes.  Currently you could just about make the flight in either a 777-200LR, a A340-500, or the new A350-900ULR but you'd be on fumes as you landed.  Fortunately it's downhill from here to Oz, so you might save a little bit on the way, but you had better hope to not have a headwind!    I believe there is also an ultra long range variant of the 787 Dreamliner version coming out which could also make the flight.

Apart from those reasons, I also thought that it makes it slightly easier to do it in two hops and chose Dubai as a nice comfortable hub to host my stop-over.

Hope that explains it.

I'm currently re-doing the flight and am cruising at 38,000 ft above the mountains of southern europe.  It makes for a nice screensaver/backdrop whilst working!

Very nice idea.

Too long flights for me though. I don't think I have a suitable plane either.
I feel it is to much work to learn to fly one of those big guys.
But if anyone have a suggestion for not to difficult, but usable plane I will look in to it.
I have the Just flight 757 Freemium somewhere if that is a possibility...

Default 747 will make the same flights I think.   The long range variant of the 757 Freemium can do London to Dubai, but I think Melbourne is then out of range, so you might need to select an airport within 4,000nm of Melbourne for the 'final' leg.

I can upload the FSX flightplan for you if you want (in fact that might be a good idea for all legs so that we're all doing the same thing).   THe first few flights are crazy long, but they get shorter during the European season, so don't give up on us and remember to use the time accelerator in the sim to shorten those flight times!   I did the London to Dubai whilst doing some work, I did the pre-flight, take off and climb section, then once into cruise accelerated the time and had the sim in the background while I worked.   All I had to do was keep an eye on the fuel management and change some pumps/crossfeeds a couple of times during the cruise.   Just prior to Top of Descent I 'rejoined' the sim to do the descent checklist items and adjust the altimeter, but then let the aircraft follow the Flight Director down until I was nearer the airport.  All in all it was not a bad way to juggle a long flight as I used most of the cruise section for work whilst the sim used accelerated time for that element.

Thanks,
I got an idea. I have the A2A B377. I will look in to that. I think it will fly very very far....

Edit;
No, I see it is not far enough, I get to Singapore, and could stop over there, but....

Just a quick message to tell about the Little NavMap  http://albar965.github.io/littlenavmap.html

Very nice program for flight following and planning.

Another one is this https://www.windytv.com

A web site with weather info. Can plot airports and winds, winds aloft, clouds and all kinds of stuff for planning.

How about getting to Indonesia or just doing the last leg from there to YMML?   The 757 should be able to do that as it's a 2,875nm trip and the 757 range is about 4,000nm.

Departure: WIII Soekarno Hatta Intl (Indonesia) FL range: 290 - 390 Distance: 2875.8 nm
Arrival: YMML Melbourne Intl (Australia)
Route: HLM1J.IMABA IMABA A585 PD T21 LEC H119 ARBEY ARBEY8A

PS: I'm currently 38,000ft over the Pacific about 220nm from BIBGO, cruising towards Melbourne.

Wow, nice flight!

I went and bought the Qality Wings 757 pack. Very cheap and I liked their slogan; Complexity Simplyfied! They have cargo models, even a Formula 1 livery. Not The best but I think it will do nicely for this project. Will do the flight tomorrow, maybe to late for practice, but it couldn't be helped.... ;-)

I've read some good things about the QW 757, so it should be perfect for the role!  Shout if you need a talk through on TS of any of the Boeing systems as I've got most of them sorted in my head now - it's only taken me a few years [emoji38]

I might do that! I did some of the flight yesterday, but ran low on gas so I had to land at YPPD. In a very bad weather. I managed to land, but it was not a pretty sight.

At least you landed on terra firma, so welcome to north west Australia! :worship:
The flight from Port Hedland down to Melbourne should be within range of the 757 now, so the next leg should be a little simpler.

Did you fly the whole thing manually?  I can see FD is not on, so I was just wondering.  I can understand no A/T if the FMU does not offer a TOGA setting, but kudos if you did the whole trip in stick mode!

I should be around tonight if you wanted to chat through the systems.  I'll try and be online at about 7pm UK time.

Edit:  Enable the Retrofit LCD upgrade for the cockpit if you can, it makes it easier to manage the systems imo.

I had an FSX flightplan loaded and I flew that on autopilot. But the flight computer was "empty". The approach/landing was manual. Not that difficult once I got the speeds sorted.

I have something scheduled until about 2115 local (8 PM Yours?) tonight, but will jump on TS then just to see if you are still there.

I managed to finish the flight, and did a nice Autoland landing. My first ever I think!

But I had problems importing the FSX flightplan in to the computer. The manual show how to do it, but it did not work.

Glad you got there.

You can create the plan in FSX (or download it from from SimRoutes) then import it to the FMC using "Load ATC Route".... then just add the SIDS/STARS fixes if you are using them and then save the route in the FMC.   The flightplan will then show up when you go to the INIT/REF INDEX page and click on the FLIGHT PLANS LSK.

vRoute Premium (which I have) can also save flightplans in the correct QW757 format, so if you want I can create them and upload/link them for you?

Well, the first race is over with Vettel's Ferrari taking the win and Hamilton and Bottas filling the rest of the podium places.   Now the F1 circus now moves on to China (try to say it with a Trump accent) with the flight being from Melbourne International (YMML), to China's Pudong airport (ZSPD).   Typically this route is operated by A330, A332, A340 aircraft, but I'm taking a B747-400 Freighter in DHL livery - because DHL is the official F1 logistics partner!

Interesting final section of the flight.   ZSPD seems to have no STAR in the PMDG database, so I had to find airport charts and add the route manually.   I went from:

AND ATRIP SHY PUD

and then landed on 34 (which is the lefthand of the two runways).  In  essence once you are at SHY then it's a nice VFR approach into the airport which was clearly visible.  projectFLY logged the flight and added China to my countries visited 'passport'  Pictures follow:

Positive rate, gear up! Leaving Melbourne International and bound for China.

Did the QW757 rte files load up ok for you?   The FSX flightplans are also .rte, but it seemed to me on vRoute that the QW757 .rte files must be a slightly different format, even though they are also called .rte files.   I'd be interested to know if they worked and if they did, I'm happy to keep uploading them for each leg.

I had huge problems trying to make my flight yesterday. Spent forever trying to load the flight plan, nothing works. Then set out manually only to find that the Autopilot didn't work either. Eventually gave up. :-(

There must be some incompatibilities with the FSX:SE version. Some gauges was wrong too this time. This is not right....

I will just have to take a few days break, and try again. If that try is the same I will have to skip this project altogether.

I might even get the DHL livery for it...

Maybe this weekend....

Sorry, Not many pictures this time. I completely forgot. I have one when parked in China, but that is all. :-(
[ATTACH=CONFIG]3878[/ATTACH]

I had to cut short the first leg due to high winds. I had 120 knot head wind the first part of the trip. So I ended up in Darwin the first "night".
On the next leg from Darwin to Shanghai I had a good tailwind so I could do it in one go.

I still have much to learn, but after the FMC started to work correctly, I'm not that worried. I will learn something new every time.
Thats my "mission" with this project.

No problem, 'last minute' is usually the way the spares arrive this early in the season!

I'll try to post up the route and flightplan links a bit later this week.   Was it helpful having the QW757 flightplan file, or was it not needed?  I'm happy to keep doing them if it helps, but it's quicker not to do them if they are not needed.  Let me know please.

I didn't get a chance to use them because it looked as it didn't work. I tried, but without the fonts nothing showed on the FMC. If you do the next one,  I can do a proper test to see if it will work on the FMC. The real problem is most likely the reduced range on the 757. So even if it works I will have to change the flights anyway.

Well, I've left Shanghai on a cloudy & misty day, but the cloud base is quite low (according to ActiveSky2016) and we have climbed through it quickly and are now heading towards our final cruising height of 38,000ft.

I've tried some cfg tweaks this time to see if my VAS usage improves, we'll wait and see!   Pictures will follow.

Edit:  violent turbulence at 32,000ft and about to shake the wings off it seems, all into a 120 knot head wind! :roflmao:

Wheels are up on mine and I'm at my initial cruising height of FL340, climbing to FL390 as the weight reduces.   I'm doing this one in real time as it is not excessively long.

Flight is being tracked by  ProjectFLY.   You can follow the flight's progress here:  https://radar.projectfly.co.uk/#l95264

I've not taken any screenshots yet as the real time weather being pumped in by Active Sky 2016 is giving a seriously hazy sky, so it's high levels of glare and low levels of photographic detail

In other news, I've added PFPX, Topcat and Navigraph to the suite of software used for flight planning, so I have updated to AIRAC 1704 for my route data.   The PFPX/Topcat combo seem superb and handle exporting of flight plans in multiple formats, and saving of those formats to their respective folders, automatically.   Navigraph is just a delight, no more searching for airport maps showing taxiways, all the charts in glorious colour and fully searchable.

Edit:
I just looked at the descent and for some reason it wants to pick up Runway 02, which is a lot shorter, so I switched to 06 which is the one I thought I had selected in the route planning!   The FMC does not show me a nice approach for 06, so I've manually entered the following into the FMC to get me to the runway.

From KARAT:  GOKIN SS067 SS063 SS062 SS061 SS060

This should give you a nice and straight approach from 25nm and line you up nicely for RW06.

Wow, what a flight.  Started out like a pussy cat dozing in the sun.  Finished like a whirling dervish.  Sochi is currently surrounded by a really nasty batch of storms with thunder and lightning everywhere.

It's the first flight where I have needed the windscreen wipers, anti-icing and had to deal with wind shear all at the same time.  Yikes!

The calm before the storm:
Setting off from OBBI Bahrain International for URSS Sochi, ready for the next F1 Grand Prix. It's a very hazy day according to AS2016.

This should have been a warning to me, the cloud base started to thicken up very fast as we approached the Black Sea.
(https://steamuserimages-a.akamaihd.net/ugc/815558460576091097/F1143EE5F1B618D135DCDED46CA050FB16AFF31B/?interpolation=lanczos-none&output-format=jpeg&output-quality=95&fit=inside%7C2048:1229&composite-to%3D%2A%2C%2A%7C2048%3A1229&background-color=black)

Why is my co-pilot gesticulating madly at his weather display?   OMG, look at that weather ahead! Sochi is covered by a thick layer of thunder storms, and we'll be flying straight through them.
(https://steamuserimages-a.akamaihd.net/ugc/815558460576094408/581748141899DEBD1C667D7745C17964F26E0028/?interpolation=lanczos-none&output-format=jpeg&output-quality=95&fit=inside%7C2048:1229&composite-to%3D%2A%2C%2A%7C2048%3A1229&background-color=black)

Visibility? What visibility? Fortunately minimums are a bit lower than these clouds!  Anti-icing on the wings and engine nacelles has to be turned on.
(https://steamuserimages-a.akamaihd.net/ugc/815558460576097037/FD79E58ECC86723009848B14BE5B33923F68560F/?interpolation=lanczos-none&output-format=jpeg&output-quality=95&fit=inside%7C2048:1229&composite-to%3D%2A%2C%2A%7C2048%3A1229&background-color=black)

Zoinks! That one was a bit too close for comfort!
(https://steamuserimages-a.akamaihd.net/ugc/815558460576099904/A45350A46F33FCBAB9D21CA1E2937A69476E33A6/?interpolation=lanczos-none&output-format=jpeg&output-quality=95&fit=inside%7C2048:1229&composite-to%3D%2A%2C%2A%7C2048%3A1229&background-color=black)

Minimums.  Wings are flexing hugely as we hit some wind shear. Really battling to hold this one on the glide slope.
(https://steamuserimages-a.akamaihd.net/ugc/815558460576102529/D8BE810533B6DAECD797BADDA1A413B3D60046D3/?interpolation=lanczos-none&output-format=jpeg&output-quality=95&fit=inside%7C2048:1229&composite-to%3D%2A%2C%2A%7C2048%3A1229&background-color=black)

We're high and late, and the runway is slick, but we got our wheels down - but only because wind shear threw us up about 200 feet, and then slammed us down onto the runway at a bone-shuddering -650fpm, so I went full throttle, TOGA and off into a go-around.    All martinis will be shaken and not stirred on this flight.   On the second attempt we managed a much more stable approach (I was more used to the wind shear) and landed it at an unbelievably greasy -8fpm!
(https://steamuserimages-a.akamaihd.net/ugc/815558460576107103/45B4B27DFAD637BFE6141B514576DB279917CF4D/?interpolation=lanczos-none&output-format=jpeg&output-quality=95&fit=inside%7C2048:1229&composite-to%3D%2A%2C%2A%7C2048%3A1229&background-color=black)

A rain-soaked Sochi International Airport glistening with standing water. Does Pirelli do full wets for the Boeing 747-800? :g:
(https://steamuserimages-a.akamaihd.net/ugc/815558460576111752/93E232A4DA64E91AE3CBDFA06598E09C2572D4BF/?interpolation=lanczos-none&output-format=jpeg&output-quality=95&fit=inside%7C2048:1229&composite-to%3D%2A%2C%2A%7C2048%3A1229&background-color=black)

Finally reached the safety of a parking stand. Cargo safely delivered, but the pilot is in need of new underwear. Wind shear is horrid.

Now can someone tell me why after installing the FlyTampa scenery last week all of my trees have turned into black squares?

They are indeed Orbx trees, thanks!

I'll have to check on the Q400, not sure if I'm up to speed on it at the moment. Totally different on props compared to turbofans.

You could grab a flightplan from here:

https://flightplandatabase.com/plan/141846

URSS LODBI B147 TISOM UL850 KULEM UT555 DOLOT UM747 GALMI UT888 CND UT85 BALBI T705 NILOV UP981 LAMIT UL5 OST UM131 NEGAT UN851 LUTTA UM601 VERSO LEBL

I haven't actually looked at the route yet, but it seems to get from A to B.   The alternative is to fly back to Heathrow/Luton/Stansted/East Midlands (as this is close to all the F1 factories) and then restock and refuel there for the short leg to LEBL.

Hi guys,

I think I have managed to fix my driving pedals, so I am not going to fly anymore for a while.
I am stowing my flight stuff as we speak.
This weekend I will install Assetto Corsa and iRacing to see if they work correctly.

Thanks for the help with this project TL, I'm sure I'll be back in the pilot seat some time.

Turned out to be the pesky road lights not the trees - and the setting causing the problem?  The DX10 preview mode.    Unchecked the DX10 option and the black squares disappeared.  Its' quite a common problem apparently.

ok, so 1st flight Sochi to Malta, got to love PMDG and the auto time compression (turns time compression back to 1x when it detects turns greater than 10 degrees and vertical of +-10 degrees), turned the 4 hour flight into 55 mins, external shots were in replay, so flaps are not shown(which is weird cause other developers show flaps/slats in reply)

So after a cracking good Barcelona Grand Prix, we're off to Monte Carlo for the Monaco Grand Prix.   Closest airport is Cote d'Azure, Nice.

To add a little bit of interest on what will be an otherwise incredibly short flight, here's a route taking off from RW20 (going away from Nice) and landing on RW22R (which mean you need to fly past the airport and then turn back on the STAR).

Route:
LEBL DALI3Q DALIN A67 BGR A27 BRUSC G39 FJR UL127 ROVOT UY373 ABLAK ABLA6R LFMN

In case your FMC does not have the detail, the DALI3Q departure requests:
- minimum 3,000 ft by PERAL
- max 6,000 ft at NITBA
- minimum FL110 by BL058

If you are doing this online then initial climb is set to 6,000 ft and you request a FL change from ATC.

See you on the south coast of France!

Just a warning, I forgot to check the runway length and RW10 is only just over 2,000ft long, so make sure you are on glide slope, get your wheels on deck pronto and then you'll not run out of room!

Managed a relatively gentle -171 ft/min landing rate, but struggled to find parking, so left it next to the Aeroline buildings!

Runway 04R at Nice, ready for a short hop(!) to Montreal CYUL.

That's a long flight, but all good fun and the cargo is here for the June 11th Grand Prix.

Next flight is after the Canadian Grand Prix and it takes us back to Europe to Baku, Azerbaijan in time for the June 25th race.

Picky!

Actually, afaiaa not all cargo goes back to base after each race.   Some cargo will return to base between races, but others will go direct to the next race.   For example, the garage setup is more likely to go direct, whereas the cars probably go back to base.   The closer the race, the more likely they are to return to base.   But for the purposes of this little bit of entertainment, we're simply going race to race for simplicity.

According to my ProjectFly page:

Distance: 3307NM
Time Started 11:37 - 29/05/2017
Time Ended 14:37 - 29/05/2017
Time Taken 02:59 hrs
Landing Rate -171 FPM
Block Fuel 182,890kg
Fuel Burned 175,225kg

So, a biscuit shy of 3 hours.    Once I had passed 10,000ft I turned on auto-time compression at 4x.   I turned it off again once closer to Montreal.

Aye, nice piccies - it's interesting to see the way they are rendered in different ways, depending on our settings and addons.

I am probably going to try a P3D v4 trip for the next flight, we'll have to see if I feel brave enough!

Next stop is the Azerbaijan Grand Prix held at Baku, so it's the longest flight we'll do until September when we start the Far East schedule.

Subject to prevailing winds changing of course, I'll be taking off from CYUL runway 24L and landing at UBBB on runway 35.  If you need the extra 300m to get wheels up, then use 24R instead (3352m versus 2926m).

Route:
YUL V382 VBS DCT YBC N745A HOIST DCT 58N050W 60N040W 61N030W 62N020W 62N010W DCT GUNPA DCT REPKU Y41 XENTA Z132 IPKAL DCT VEDEN DCT TIRIN M996 GUKOL A225 LATRI G118 OGURA B450 KZ B122 MKL B494 BUMAR N67 NOBVA NOBV1H

Departure is straight out on runway heading, but no RT below 5,000ft!   Then vector to route waypoint.
Arrival is on the NOBVA 1H SID.

Flight distance will be 4,966nm.
Estimated flight time - 12 hours 05 minutes.    (I think I'll be using flight time compression again!)
Eventual cruise height will be FL420.
Cargo is 72,727kg of F1 goodies plus passengers and baggage.

See you airside!

...and we're there.  First F1 flight using P3D v4, and very pleasant it was too!  Montreal to Baku, all in just under 5 hours thanks to time acceleration.

Time Started: 13:57 - 13/06/2017
Time Ended: 18:46 - 13/06/2017
Time Taken: 04:49hrs

Landing Rate: -136 FPM
Fuel Burned: 165860kg

Lined up, ready for take off, heading for Baku, some 12 hours away.

Not the best weather in Montreal, so kind of glad to be leaving!

Having taken off during the day, we're heading into night.  It's a 12 hour flight time with 12 hours of difference in time zones (from -8 hrs in Montreal to +4 hours at Baku)!

It's properly dark now, and a lovely clear night at 38,000ft.

Nailed a brilliant landing, with a landing rate of just -136ft/min.   P3D seems to do amazing shadows, both on the ground and even shadows cast by clouds.  Beautiful!

Wow, what a race!   We're packing up now and need to load up the cargo planes for the next hop from Baku to Thalerhof (Graz) airport, LOWG, for the Austrian Gran Prix.

We need to have wheels on the ground by July 9th and LOWG's runway 35C looks the better approach.

Have a good flight folks!

Hmmm, first attempt and I managed to kill everyone.   Massive turbulence and wind shear as I left the airport which is currently surrounded by a massive thunderstorm cell, so I was happily taking some screenshots of the excessive wing flex (which I thought was mainly due to the PMDG bug) and I got an 'Aircraft Overstress' failure and the airframe disintegrated at about 13,000ft! :roflmao:

Take two:  reloading and will immediately try to divert East and out of the storm cell PDQ to see if I can make it around this time!

Sometimes the weather map just says 'No'.  Autopilot is on and I should be doing 250 knots, but the ASI is bouncing between 210 and 360 knots as we bounce around!

Well, the next flight is from your UK airport, across the channel and to Hungary for the Grand Prix at the Hungaroring circuit.

Closest airport is Budapest Ferenc Liszt International Airport (LHBP), but you could also fly to Vienna or Bratislava as they are only a couple of hours away from Budapest.

Wheels must be down before the race starts on 30th July!    Chocks away folks!

My route:

This is a nice 2 hour flight, with some nice scenery on the way as you edge over the mountains and descend into a picturesque Hungary.

I did the trip to Silverstone in FSX as a reminder of what it looked like and I am so glad to eb back in P3D v4, it looks stunning in comparison in my personal opinion.

Wheels up from East Midlands airport!

Upload them to your steam library, then go look at the picture in the library, right click it and take the second link option.   Then just paste it as normal in IMG tags.

Scenery is looking good, that's default P3D (with quite a lot of lower settings to boost my FPS to playable levels as my 770 SLI doesn't really work in P3D), along with Orbx, ActiveSky and will soon also be joined by Rex (updates for P3D v4 due soon).

I always had few problems with FSXSE.

So when you close down FSXSE at the end of the session, does Steam pop up the screenshot library and give you a chance to upload any screenshots you took during the session?

I just tried it with one of Paddy's from his Steam account (for some reason I could not find your steam account).    The first step is the critical one.

Went to his screenshots, clicked on one of the screenshots so it opens up on its own in a solo window with the comments box to the right. (if you go to screenshots and just rightclick on a picture without having clicking on the picture to open it in its own window then you do not get a working link).
Right clicked on the picture, selected 'Copy Link Address'
Came back to this forum and pasted the link into {IMG} {/IMG} tags, replacing {} with []
The link I got worked, so I can link the below picture of his crashed Chinook, which also means that there is no need for a paternity test, these landing skills prove that he is indeed your son! :roflmao:

If you try to get a link without opening the screenshot up into a solo window then you get a link that will not load the image properly and will be much shorter than the one linking this image.

Hopefully this will resolve your problem.

Well it's a short gap for this next hop but a relatively short flight from EBLG to Linate LIML which has a shortish runway at 2442m.  It's a mere 21km from the Monza circuit so should do me nicely.

I haven't posted up my EBLG to LIML screenshots yet, but will do shortly.   The flight was done Friday before the race though, so I got there in time, albeit to then have a regional jet turn onto the runway and line up facing me when I was wheels down and in reverse thrust!

In the meantime, the next flight is a little bit bigger as we head from Monza to Singapore.      So LIML to WSSS is the required flight and I'll be using this route:

TOVS5C LOGDI T293 LURUT M859 CHI M167 BASOG Z122 LABIN DCT NISVA Q13 UDROS UM859 KARDE UN644 ROLIN N644 LAGAS M747 SULEL N449 DUKAN B449 RANAH L750 ZB G201 BINDO L750 TIGER L333 JJP J1 KKJ L759 PUT B579 VPL W531 VIH A464 ARAMA LELI3B

Total flight distance is about 5683.9nm, so you might need to break it down into two hops as the the full 72,727kg of cargo and the required fuel might put you over the max TOW or be beyond your max range.  The 747-400ERF has a max range of 5,700nm with a full load, so with slightly less than a full load I should be ok and *just* get there!

As the Mrs was  sleeping this avo, I thought i would do the LIML to WSSS flight, thank the stars for the PMDG auto time, 12 hours into 2 and a half. took off, Vnav, Lnav and left it to pause TOD and came back 2 hours later for it to waiting. No issues/failures with realism on, although the centre tanks were drained and threw me a pump warning on finals, only 61000kg of fuel left, started with 150000kg, but low freight as i wasn't sure how much i would use, so brought all the carbon fiber bits, you can bring the engines TL.

My flight is currently in progress.   I took off earlier this morning and am currently cruising at FL300, which is the first cruise altitude on the planned step climb up to a final FL390 cruise for the last part of the route (once I have burnt off enough fuel to get up there that is!).   I used ALL of the runway and flaps 20 to get off the ground at LIML, it's a very full load and the best part of 12 hours in the air to get there in one go.   Time accel is ON.  Pictures to follow.

And disappointment.   PFPX crashed halfway through the flight and 10 minutes inot the descent, some 50 minutes from landing P3D crashed too.   And guess which idiot had forgotten to register FSUIPC when he installed P3Dv4?  Yeah me, so I could not reload the flight part way through to a checkpoint just prior to the crash.   Grrr.   :frusty:

With regret I have to announce that I did not make the flight to Malaysia in time.   Although if I had done, I would have dropped the Ferrari engines into pit lane  from about 2,000ft to accurately reproduce pre-race conditions for their engines! :norty:

I'll be doing the flight to Malaysia this week, then going right on from Malaysia to Nagoya’s Centrair (Central Japan International Airport) airport which is the closest to Suzuka.      It's slightly smaller than Tokyo’s Narita airport, but is closer and easily big enough for cargo with runway length of 11,483 ft.
