I'll probably end up buying and trying, still seeking that perfect 64-bit flight sim. the killer will be how expensive it is to transfer already bought addons.
I got an e-mail from Dovetail the other day telling me that everybody (me included) that bought the Dovetail Flight School, will be getting Flight Sim World for free.
dam it and they have pulled flight school from steam. There is an issue with 3rd party addons. See frogglesim in YouTube. Basically if dovetail don't change the 3rd party software policy they are indicating at, pmdg, aerosoft may not be releasing things for it.
See here for details from pmdg, 2nd post from top, did try to find original post.

I may go p3d v4 as it will 64 bit and orbx says it will support I more major update from p3d, although p3d may charge a discounted price for the next upgrade, for previous owners as they did from 3.2 to 3.3. So be aware if you are going to buy before 3.4

The more I hear about it, the less inclined I am to buy it. So far it is only GA, no commercial airliners. The worst bit for me, which stopped me in my tracks and made me shudder with horror, was when they confirmed they were probably bringing out a console too. That last bit just made me want to go right past FSX Steam, step lightly on X-Plane 11 and leap right right over FSW to Prepar3d v4. At least my Orbx stuff will work with P3D and I won't need a console controller.
I would hold off P3d until version 3.4 though

I'll be holding off until v4 I suspect as that's when it becomes 64-bit and they have already said that you'll need to buy it again, there'll be no discount for v3 users who want to buy v4.
Released on early access today, wish i had bought flight school for 4.99 a couple of months ago..oh well. if its less than £30 ill fork out just to see whats it like
I'm passing on this one until I know much more. The console bit and no tubes really put me off.
Yeah, no need to jump in on this one.
If it gets good we will know about it.... :-)
So bought it anyhow, first impressions...
I have some key settings that are not default. So it knew them, found the config and it's basically a default fsx one. Did it copy my fsx one..I don't know. And don't mess with the shadow settings in the cfg..it doesn't like it
The gfx options are not as in depth as fsx.
The micro stuttering is still there.
All those nice screen shots....Haven't found them yet, although the rain looks nice
Had quite a few ctd.
The free flight is not..y you pick a start location, that's ok but you need to pick an end one as well....why?
For twenty pounds I thought I'd give it a go. It takes up about 40 gig though.
That was based on about 20 mins play. Ill give it more of a go tonight

seems that someone over at avsim has managed to ..errr... import what appears to be a PMDG 747 into it

ROFLcakes, that will annoy DTG no end, as part of the move to FSW was to force a cut of addon sales to them through Steam.
