Title: Hardware requirements? GTX770 2
Post by: Twyst on June 18, 2017, 01:26:08 PM
I'm thinking about giving this game a go, but I'm a touch scared about enjoyment due to my aging GPU. I have a GTX770 2G edition backed by an i5 4670 @4G on a 1440p monitor. It's the res that's the killer - all games I currently play are "good enough".
The one game I tried to get into but even at lowest settings was unplayable is ARK. And thanks to Ethereum mining on AMD and now nVidia top end GPU now is not the time to replace the GPU!

So any GTX770 players out with with good news for me?

Well, I found plenty of videos of people playing it with a 770 on 1080p, using high settings getting good framerates.

Now of course 1440p needs more juice, but one would think that it will be doable by turning down the settings.

Another thing to bear in mind is that the game looks pants anyway, and really you're better off playing it with most things set to low! Likely this will be enough to give you at least 30 FPS on the ground.

Finally, there is always the option of downscaling. If for whatever reason 1440p is just not attainable, the game will allow you to keep the HUD elements at 1440p whilst downscaling the game resolution (to whatever you want).

The experience is really in the gameplay, it will look naf whatever you do :D Hope this provides some food for thought... sorry I am not able to offer more direct information.

Hey Twisted,

I'm running it on an old Radeon R9 290x and settings all set to low/very low except for textures on high and Screen scale on 110
I would say I average 60fps at 1080p and I play considerably better than Ben (Chaos), so I hope that helps :D :D :D

We have deralied this thread.

The point is Twisted, we think you will be ok. The game is more CPU heavy than GPU anyway. It runs on the same engine as Arma, so if you can manage to play that (which is infinetly better looking), you should be fine with PUBG.

And Sneaky, streaming is also more CPU intensive, it does not care what your CPU is. Any 720p/60 webcam will do, and your headset mic is fine.

i think i need to clarify chaos i'm also part of a streamers community so i know about webcams and mics i was just wondering what his setup was as most webcams have a box round then and sparko's dosent seem to have that, and there's a whole host of diffirent mics/head set combo's

Hey Twisted,

As the others have said, you should be fine. You may have a few issues when different weather effects and things are in your game (like the rain etc) as this obviously uses more resource.  There are loads of guides on YouTube that can advise you on little tweaks to increase your fps and other things.  Also remember its in Alpha so the game itself probably isn't as optimised as it will be on main release.

Sneaky, my set up is just a cheap webcam, cheap condenser mic, a green screen and 3 spot lights.  I'm still new to streaming so i don't really know whats best and what isn't really, i have just done a hell of a lot of research and watched countless tutorials to learn the basics to get started.
