I watched this this morning and was blown away. The tracking is the best bit for me - will negate the use of TrackIR et al.
Yeah that's exactly what I thought too.
The VOIP system is looking really cool too, with varying levels/channels that you can talk through, such as local (anyone in earshot will hear you), comm channel, ship to ship, etc., and the video calling is awesome, so whoever you're calling sees you on their mobiGlas and vice versa.
I'd just like to point out that if you want a cheap (less than 10 quid!) Web cam capable of 60fps. The pseye is capable. It requires a special driver though. Pm me for more details about the driver. I would imagine the existing ones left on the market are going to sell quickly now!!

This was the bit that impressed me the most, serious advancement and great tech. COmms synched with facial actions should make in-game interaction superb.
I was blown away by this. Looks brilliant. The problem now is when lib makes a character, the voice will spoil the ansemble.

This is where I was going with the redesign. This'll be an extension to the actor mapping they did though so I can't see the API taking much to integrate.

This tech is currently on the roadmap for Alpha 3.3 (end of September).
3.3 is the big one, bringging in the tech that paves the way for server meshing, which will provide the ability for EVERYONE to be in the same instance!
And that's the but we all want. Getting a group together and starting to build teams in the verse.
