I just got one of these dvd player (http://www.aria.co.uk/ProductInfoComm.asp?ID=9623)s for £40 which was quite a nice litle bargain. It works fine through the SCART to the tv, but I can't get a singal on my pc monitor. I cannot get the VGA port to enable, plus I'm having trouble finding -any- info on the web for this make  I know it's a cheapo, but if anyone comes accross a samasonic website or knows of any good dvd player forums or something that google doesn't check do let me know ;-)
I notice that it does S-Video and composite out. Does your graphics card support either of those as inputs you could then not use the VGA port.
do I need to send it into my computer at all though? The motherboard would appear to have a VGA-in. the graphics card doesn't, but then I don't
want to send it to my pc at all really. Just play dvd's through my monitor while I have the player (it'll head to my gf's in a few months, when I've managed to buy a DVD-writer for my new pc :) - expect a thread on that in a few weeks! ;) )
surely vga out (which is meant to be plugged into a vga-capable TV) just goes straight into my monitor? don't see why it wouldn't ? :eyebrow:
QuoteComponent Video output.
SCART Output
S-Video and COMPOSITE VIDEO output.
Selectable NTSC or PAL video system output.
DIGITAL COAXIAL and OPTICAL output.
VGA Out
I have a menu which (when plugged into the scart on my tv so I could see what was going on) switched between PAL/NTSC/AUTO and another which switched between RGB/YUV/S-VIDEO, but that was all I could see. a comment in the instructions said that it'd display just that when in "NORMAL" mode, but damned if I can see where to find this normal mode setting!!
I simply bought one of these (http://www.omegahomevideo.com/products/tv_one/cheesebox.htm), at the press of a button you can switch between TV and PC, loverly stuff :D
my pc monitor has two inputs, so if I could get the VGA from the DVD to work somehow I'd be fine. I think I know the problem now though... :frusty:
having posted my query on the aria website sometime near lunch...
Quote A. It outputs at a resolution of 720 x 400 or 640 x 242. Please check that your monitor can support these resolutions.
I have an iiyama vm pro 454, but it's not widescreen, so possibly doesn't support those resolutions <_<
ah well, guess my girlfriend can have it earlier. :flirty:
