LOW INCOMING VOLUME:-

Problem = For some reason when started Discord has been lowering the volume of the app and Windows sounds in the mixer when started.

Fix = Right click on speaker icon on Windows taskbar, "Open Volume Mixer" and adjust the output levels for Discord.

Well, for some reason I'm not allowed to edit my own posts any more.

Reddit has a more permanent fix to the above issue, it's Discords sound attenuation interfering with Windows own hidden automatic attenuation settings.

You can apparently turn that off from Windows Control Panel->Sound->Communications and set the windows attenuation to "Do Nothing"

App too big on screen

It seems the issue is something to do with monitor resolutions since an update. It also looks like this was intentional for some strange reason... seems a bit of a misstep from the devs to cause problems for users with certain resolutions imo.

Anyway there may be a workaround but of course I am unable to test this personally-

Edit- pnuts advised me the settings file may be located in '%user%\AppData\Roaming\discord' rather than the main install.

Ok now back out into the Orient I go. :norty:

This is what I found that seemed to cure my quiet mike problem.
If you have Windows, right click the sound/volume icon and then click on Recording devices. Double-click on your recording device and then click on the Levels tab. Check to make sure it's at 100. After that, click on the Advanced tab and make sure none of the checkboxes below Exclusive Mode have a checkmark inside of them.

There's an initial period (?15 minutes) during which you can edit your post, then the slow calcification of history takes over and your words are forever fossilised for posterity.

Discord servers currently offline

Major Outage
Identified - We're yet again investigating a major outage causing offline guilds and connection issues. We're still working both internally and externally with Google to resolve this issue.

Title: Windows 10 1803 update breaks Discord
Post by: OldBloke on May 02, 2018, 10:19:13 PM
Updating to the 1803 build will probably break your ability to be heard in Discord.

The fix (thanks Lib :thumb:) is to click the notifications icon bottom-right of your main screen and then click ...

Settings > Privacy > Microphone > Allow apps to access your microphone > On. If already On, toggle Off, then back On
