Following the games actual release i was ready to get back into the game , loot, raid and build bases. After about five minutes of being annihilated by wolves, bears, pigs, chickens, helicopters, tanks, starvation, dehydration, heatstroke, spikes, beartraps, landmines and players i had a thought. Could it be possible for a dMw server with nice happy friendly people and alot less than 120. So i made a poll :D

The setback is that the game, although playable on a PvE basis, is alot more PvP based in the sense that you trust no one (abit like PUBG). That being said i do think its an awesome game and we should all give it a try and so i have come up with several ideas just to see what peeps think:

1) PvE Rust- build bases and fight Ai tanks and vehicles and get mauled by bears whilst exploring places

2)PvP Rust- all vs All, make whatever alliances you want, kill who you want , raid etc

3) Controlled PvP- This one is my favourite as it accommodates to all- set up safe areas for people to build in that only want to do PvE and have the rest of the map as PvP. you could have loot zones as PvP and wilderness as PvE, or you could even have PvE during the week and PvP on weekends with set days for raiding ( means we could have a set Rust night) although this will have to be policed- id also recommend a rule that means no offline raiding.

Regardless of options its a beautiful game and has improved alot since early access and has been fun to follow the development XD

If there was a big dMw player base playing I would be interested. I've always got a bet bored of Rust as it is very grindy on 1x resources servers, it just takes so long to build bases etc

theyve seemed to sort that now too, respawns are quick on resources and there are set locations like mountain ranges for stone nodes. Not only that but bases decay if you dont have the resources to sustain them so it stops people building OTT bases

Nice poll paddy. Rust was great fun when I tried it a while back. I won't vote as I'm still away, but I really hope you get some numbers going!

I voted for pvp, but I'd be equally as happy with controlled, i could get a few more people interested in playing as a work mate had his own server a while back, only thing I would actually prefer is that decay be turned off - half the fun of the game is building something stupid & having it all fall down if I don't get online for a day isn't my thing.

I would probably play pve tbh, i don't like the thought of spending many hours building and then someone comes along and destroys it. Maybe controlled would be better, but would need constant admin intervention, which could be an issue also, as a dedicated admin team would need to be on 24/7, which isn't do-able.

Is there a Mod that protects peoples assets when offline, or negates pvp action to certain ares, if so that would be better

these guys do pvp at night and pve during the day (game cycle)

Not to my knowledge, can always have a look but this is where the DMW teamwork and fair play come into it, just cause its PvP doesn't mean you have to be on your own and its just common courtesy to raid bases when the occupants are online. With the controlled PvP you could say certain areas are deemed safe areas with no raids if that is what people wanted and in terms of policing Admins wouldn't need to be on 24/7 firstly because its DMW and id like to think our members are nice and awesome but also because if someone does disobey the admins can help the victim fix everything without actually spending resources (God Mode)

It all comes down to trust :D

the decay can be annoying but if you mine extra resources on the first day it can cover you for up to 4 days IRL based on the size of your base, As annoying as the decay is it is useful in the sense that it clears the builds of people that no longer play meaning servers dont need to be wiped.

Having said that Admins can destroy bases that are no longer being used with the permission of the builder of course :lmfao:

I've seen servers that run offline modes, also theres plugins that allow you to setup zones within the map for pvp/pve/no building dmg etc

yeah so it is possible to have one map that caters for everyone, i was on a server yesterday that had a zombies mod so If we went down the PvE route we can always add more Enemys to be killed by.

Can I swap my vote from pvp to controlled pvp, this game is a bit boring on only over due to the lack of enemies.  It's  not like ark with random dinos or 7 days to die with all the zombies. It's only bears and wolves. So maybe controlled areas of pvpv would be pretty fun and kinda risky depending on numbers

Okay so as it stands then we have 4 for PvE, 1 for PvP and 3 for controlled PvP :D

Cast my stone, controlled PvP, good luck finding something to do in Rust without some form of pvp, I think there is only 2 creatures to kill a wold and a bear? Some tank? Yaaawn!

Was on a server with Armitage and Addx9 today on a PvP server although it has to be said whilst we did come into contact with hostile players the one thing none of us were prepared for were the new addition of little blue men patrolling loot spawns. They were easy enough at first as on the roads they just had pick axes so you could run away so we were feeling pretty confident when we went to loot the military loot zones. Turns out at that point they swap the pick axes for Ak-47s :roflmao: did not end well for us :D

Thinking about everything though, im not too sure if we will have a server but as it stands as rogue changed his mind, we have :

4 for PvE
1 for PvP
4 for controlled PvP

being the compromising individual i am i developed another awesome idea. We could always adapt the controlled PvP- section of part of the map thats going to be just for PvE and then the rest of the map can be the original controlled PvP idea. That way everyone is happy. Ill be playing it either way :yahoo:
