LAN XXXIII
May 3rd - 6th
We have prepared a rough itinerary for the upcoming LAN for your perusal. A few things might be subject to change and will let you all know as soon as possible.
We will continue to collect your feedback, and welcome your input and ideas. We try to make decisions based upon the majority, but if you don't see your feedback implemented just yet don't fret, it may be something we have planned for a future event!
We hope this itinerary gets your juices flowing, and if you don’t yet have a copy of the planned games then you have time enough to look for a good deal and purchase.
THURSDAY NIGHT CLUBFor those of you able to arrive early
(Remember it is not a race so drive carefully).
I will be at the LAN from around midday. The LAN room may well not be open until later, but there will undoubtedly be coffee, beer, and maybe some fish & chips runs for lunch. The festivities don’t get going until the evening though, so don’t fret if you can’t make it for High Noon.
- 12:00+ - Arrive at the Cromwell.
- 18:00 - Community Meal Out. We will be heading out as a large group this LAN for a meal out! Check the link for Thursday meal for more details.
- 20:00-23:00 â€" Poker Texas Holdem Torment. Back with popular demand the usual card playing fun - £5 entry.
- 21:00 â€" Call of Duty 4 - We will be running a server for this older FPS game close to our hearts. Grab a copy before the LAN if you don't already have one! And feel free to start levelling your toon to get the best guns etc.
FRIDAY- 10:00 - 13:00 - Ad hoc gaming. We will be running a Team Fortress 2 Server at some point this morning, so get your copy installed and jump on for some manic team-based shenanigans.
- 14:00-16:00 - Mystery Event - Something a bit different this afternoon. It doesn't involve leaving the Cromwell, and you don't need a PC for it but there will be a small charge. More details to follow.
- 14:00-18:00 - Ad hoc gaming. We will be running some Retro gaming this afternoon, alongside the mystery event. You do NOT need to bring anything to participate, we have you covered. Just remember to shout at your useless team mate chopping the wrong veg for the soup.
- 18:00 - Steak Night. We will be collecting orders in advance. Details to follow.
- 20:30 â€" Lan Virgin and Competition team pulls â€" Mandatory to all with beers.

SATURDAY- 10:00-12:00 - Mystery Retro Tournament. To keep the day varied, this one won't involve iron sights or headshots. You don't need to bring anything with you to participate, we have it covered.
- 1300-1500 - CS: Deagle. New maps, seeded duos.
- 16:00-18:00 - Overwatch. 6v6 or 3v3 depending on numbers. Teams will be seeded to keep things balanced.
- 18:00 â€" CS: Deagle Final â€" To be watched on the big screen
- 19:00 - Pizza Night - We will be ordering from Dominos as a group, aiming for any pizza (large) for £10. A booking thread will open for this later. If you don't fancy pizza, the Hotel Restaurant will be open, as well as several takeaways from the March Highstreet.
- 20:00 - CS:GO Tournament. New maps, new modes, seeded teams.
- 22:00â€"22:30 â€" Competition Prize Presentations and pictures. Mandatory to all with beer.
- 23:00 - Mandatory Kebab. Ok, not mandatory, but highly recommended.
These times are only a rough guide, as things may overrun on the day! We will keep you updated throughout.
SUNDAY10:00+ - Breakfast and Final Announcements / Closing Ceremony. There will be a bit of light ad hoc gaming for those of you wanting to scratch that itch a little more before heading home.
After that it’s time to pack up, travel safe, and start the countdown till the next LAN.
There are a few little things to note.
First, there will be prizes for the tournaments, including the Friday Night Mystery Tournament.
Secondly, there will be a ‘Casual Corner’. Casual / social gaming was one of the main things you guys wanted to see more of at the LANs. We have built upon this following LAN’s and think you will like the changes and game variety.
Finally, we will be spectating some of the tournament games using the social corner, so if you're not playing you can still get involved.
What are you lot doing to me. I am not a COD fanboy. Can you clarify which version and if anyone knows where to get it cheap. I will get my son to level me up. He plays it on his PS3. (Is that cheating)

AFAIK there is only one CoD4? Grab it on steam to guarantee no compatability issues. We ran this last May with no significant problems.
If kinguin is any cheaper (I am only seeing prices in Vietnamese currency right now), you could get a steam key there. I've never had a problem with their service.

Easter soon so high chance of multiple sites doing the usual sale and can pick up any of the games planned cheap.
Currently £20 on Steam. It's a solid single player game as well with a decent plot and characters etc. Probably worth the asking price for that. In the single player game you also get the iconic and now famous AC 130 Spectre Gun ship mission that loads of idiots thought was real.

Hi uni, this was copied from the itinerary I wrote for our first May LAN. We decided we wanted to try and rotate maps and around to keep things fresh in the CS.
For last October we put a fair bit of research into what maps, as we wanted to make sure the ones we used were fit for purpose - I know the forest map we used last May for Deagle was not to everyone's liking. I hope that the maps went down well in October!
As for modes, all we mean is we don't want to necessarily limit ourselves to bomb for the team CS. We could mix in a bit of hostage one LAN, for example. I'm not sure what the other musketeers are planning for May with regards to maps and modes, but I aim to mix them up a bit in October so it isn't just the same stuff as last year.
As CS is such a big part of dMw and the LAN, I'm keen to continue to improve the tournaments. There are things from October that we want to work on going forwards, hopefully it will only get better.
On the topic, is you or anyone else has suggestions for maps that would work well, we would always be keen to check them out! :)

please remember that some of us still have our stats from when playing and although newbies will be privates or cpls, etc for the 1st few games, it doesnt take very long to get into it.
i would be miffed if someone who bought the game the day before the lan turned up as a 5 star general and all the perks that went with it.

Please don't do a "Tutonic" and forget.

I have packed the Trophy. Had a good pre LAN experiance. Chinese, Beer and Bath. bring on the fun.
