This goes live at midnight tonight, who's ready to go? Yarg!!!
So I googled how to put these xBox installed games into a drive other than C. Switched Apps default install to F: and I have 16Kb of data under the SoT folder, no pre-load?
Yaaaaarrrrrrr!
A pirates life for me!
Probably not till the weekend
So after hearing Pesteh/Rabble speak so seriously like........the most serious i've ever heard him hold a conversation! :) I've started to download this under the 14 day game pass trial

It prompted me for a drive selection before install. and it did pre-load. Are you all up and running now?
I really want to be a professional pirate to ohh no be a good Toby, I will be singing this all.

No it didn't but I changed my new app install drive to F: before trying the install. Then it gets installed into WindowsApps which is a locked folder where the owner needs changed in security settings just to look into it.
But it did go into F for sure, 20GB of it. I logged on this morning and had a mooch. Feels like Fortnite Pirate Style.
Now I'm stuck with the ffffffin Xbox user name I setup 15 years ago. I must have changed it once already as M$ want â,¬9.99 to change it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:taz::rumpy:
At least it's a sensible one: IGN is dMw Albert
Yeah my gamertag is completely different from my Xbox 360 days:rolleyes:
Mine isnt and managed to hopefully found a way to play for 14 days
I've got it via game pass trial for 14 days
so i also did the trial pass thing, but i didnt get an option to install, am i missing something
nvm : installing now

I have to admit it's this that's giving me second thoughts about SoT. I don't mind PvP but this game seems offer to many options for griefers and gankers right now. Simple things like making Outposts PvP free so players can get business done, allowing players to re-spawn on an empty ship etc seem like no brainers and I would have assumed the Devs would have thought this through. I assumed, naively it seems, that the Beta was just missing these key elements.
But on first look the game does seem to be a bit of a gankers paradise. Add in the fact that they seas will be littered with Xbox players (no offence if you own an Xbox, you're all PC gamers to me :D ) and I'm concerned that the balance is going to be way off. The game looks great, there's all kinds of stuff to do apart from butchering each other but it seems there's a real risk that much of the fun is going to be obscured by mindless murder. I'm no game designer but even I could imagine some ideas about being able to share map locations and/or trade with other pirate crews, do co-op battles with the Kraken, get some reward for a mass musical dance festival  and more, which would nicely balance the fighting and carnage. Right now there is zero incentive to meet other crews and not try to kill them. We all know there are plenty or retards out there whose idea of fun is to camp out a Tavern and slaughter players as they spawn into the game.
I'll hold fire and hopefully my fellow pirates will be able to confirm the world isn't a giant gank-a-thon. As my time in the beta, where there were very few other pirate crews about, was a blast.
Personally speaking, I went into the game solo, but that can be I believe in an instance with 23 other players. I saw 1 other ship the whole time. Now I imagine it's not too easy to join as a team but all in solo so the end result in my game was everyone was on their own. I imagine if you play as a group you are at risk of being attacked at any time. But of course others can choose to sail on by and not attack. Can't say I got any missions completed, still learning.
So far the sailing is a bit basic, as is the cannon gunnery, the latter being nowhere near as engaging as Blackwake. Rest of the game feels like Fortnite.
My views since trying solo, then sloop and galleon multi crew. Base game and playability is quite awesome. Roaming the open seas for the fun of exploring, wreck diving, island exploration all work seamlessly and can be done without griever interruption quite easily.
The missions vary between trade, treasure hunt and skeleton killing plus the main skull raid which is a pretty tough multi wave attack on an island.
Of course through all of this other players can intervene. So far I’ve only seen friendlies whilst solo or sloop multi. We made a battle our business in galleon mode.
The pace is perfect, a mix of relax and action.
I’d say wait a few more weeks and and see how it is received and if players stick with it also if the development plans remain transparent.
So far for me it’s providing great fun and enjoyment.
I have sailed the seas in a group of 2 and group of 4, had many epic battles and giggled along the way. I will hanging up my captain hat on the 2nd of April (Gamecard expires) But I have enjoyed it and will get it if the price drops. That is the only stop me from getting it really, will be interesting when they flush it out more too.

+1 Cheers Pes and Milli for that night
Good example of some shenanigans, Pesteh and I getting all hands on deck in a 3 galleon fight!
one instance of NSFW language that will probably make you laugh :D

:lmfao: Brilliant, I've enjoyed it so far, but the fun happens when there is a risk of losing and/or stealing treasure. I have a feeling this will get old quick and it's going to need more content if it's going to keep me going. Cosmetics don't really float by boat... excuse the pun :D
I refunded Sea of Thieves dudes, game pass owners have got it right, play it till its dead and unsubscribe.
My main reasons are:
Not £50 worth of enjoyment no matter how much I enjoy the shenanigans, shenanigans without SOME kind of reward ended up being 3hour sessions "enjoyment" with literally nothing to show for it.
I'll bite the bullet and say it, lack of content  kills me to admit it, but for the potential in this engine and scope, its painfully quick to burn out.
BUT
That leads to my biggest prob with the game, that the GRIND for the rep to Pirate Legend is the most painful I've seen in ages. for example, 3.5 hours with Galatoni just running missions netted us just over 4k gold and it DIDNT MOVE MY RANKS! I've not got time for that man.
I'll probably return to it in gamepass if anything changes dudes.
I've got to say, this is a good read by PCG (and I never say that about PCG) that just talks a bit about "lack of content" and I really agree with a lot of the points here, and it'd be interesting to find out why gamers still endorse these games so feverishly (like me lol, but I got a refund so that's pretty good)
Let me know your thoughts on THE ARTICLE (https://www.pcgamer.com/sea-of-thieves-destiny-2-and-the-problem-with-games-that-always-need-more-content/?utm_content=bufferfdde1&utm_medium=social&utm_source=facebook&utm_campaign=buffer_pcgamerfb).

Sounds like you're mocking those not as lucky to be able to get a refund as you were!
Now I'm actually a patient guy and will wait and expect/ hope for content, but c'mon, perhaps a little responsibility for over hyping the game in dMw lies on you! I basically joined the party because you and a load of others were playing it at alpha, then beta, then every evening after release so I thought why not get in on the act. Now, there's nobody playing it.
So again good for you that you can laugh now about getting a refund.... enjoy.

I'm quite sure your own running joke is that I over hype games dude, and I've got literally no idea how to respond.
Quote from: SithAfrikaan;430438I'm quite sure your own running joke is that I over hype games dude, and I've got literally no idea how to respond.
I'm being honest mate, it's not a running joke. And to be fair, it's not just you, Sea of Thieves is just an extreme example. In dMw we are very quick to get turned onto a fad game and the community end up splashing out on it only for it to die fast and be wasted money. It's just a little tougher to take when it's a 50 quid game and people who raved about a game 4 days earlier gloat about getting a refund. I know we are all adults and can make our own minds up but...
Question: as probably the first person to promote Sea of Thieves in our forums, do you now recommend that we should all try and get a refund? I'd rather follow suit if that seems to be the general mind set. No point in keeping a game that my dMw buddies will never play again.
QuoteIn dMw we are very quick to get turned onto a fad game and the community end up splashing out on it only for it to die fast and be wasted money.
Who's 'we'? I don't quite understand whats going on here tbh. I feel i'll likely be told to keep my mouth shut. Why does it make a difference that it's a 50 quid game? And why, after people have purchased, or even just seen a review, have said it's poor, and then not bought it, are we having this debate? I'm not quite sure what you're getting at. Everyone has a right to an opinion, right?
That said, lets be constructive. Easiest way to get a refund, if you want one, is to say the product did not meet your expectations. Easy. They can't back out because of EU law, to which they're bound. You just need to establish that they've broken their contract, which is to create a game with adequate content.
To go ever so slightly off topic why can't all newly released games bring out a demo?
I am glad I got the opportunity to play sot without having to spend a penny.
I don't think gamers should necessarily get a refund on a game that hasn't hit the mark it's never crossed my mind.
I do think they shoot themselves in the foot with no demos for most games.

Demo's a good for single player games I feel, so if you are making a choice without much input from others then you can see for yourself.
I mainly want a good vide and peer feedback about multiplayer dMw compatible games. I personally look at a few things when deciding to commit to purchase:
1) Am I personally interested in the game, genre and does it look good fun. SoT checks this box.
2) Are dMw playing the game, and by that I mean any number from 5 upwards every night of the week pre-release beta and on release. There were over 10 playing SoT in early beta and into release on many nights pre-release I watched patiently unable to join until the 20th March. Check
3) Does the game have a medium term plan at least for content and updates, gimme a year and I'm happy. SoT has, check.
I would rather play with dMw if at all possible. But I'm not lingering around in hope if a game doesn't strike a chord with the community. I have 2000+ hours on Naval Action and 1000+ on Warframe mainly with other clans.
I just didn't expect to have to do this so soon with SoT. And the more original players go for refunds, those of us who want to actually play the game into the future will also lose that in dMw. It's not the money for me, it's the enjoyment. Same happened with Project Cars for me, I was so looking forward to this and after serious dMw hype, not a soul played it. I think for 2 weeks we had a dedicated server and I did one 5 minute race vs TL. Nothing more was heard of.
I get as much excitement out of new games, early access etc as anyone, I blow as much expendable income on games than anyone (maybe not lib), it's finding a game I can get my teeth into and give my time to that I want to find.
You make a very good point Bert, indeed cost shouldn't matter too much you'll soon get a return on that in terms of hours spent on the game.
I at times find it difficult playing games with other dmw members with some of the more popular games (pubg) which is odd.
I don't want to go off topic and disturb sot thread here either.
So I don’t suppose anyone is left to play the new campaign update, The Hungering Deep? [emoji4]

yarrrrrrrrrrr
Just had an extended romp on this with pesteh and Jewelz, and it was a roaring success. Took on multiple ghost ships and one very unpleasant megalodon with another friendly crew we randomly met on the server, over the course of about 2 hours. Even had some time for spooning at the end.
If anyone else is interesting in playing let us know and we will try to organise a time for some pirating. Yaaarrrrrgggghhhhh!
10 points to me for plugging the forum (Y)
10 doubloons * :D
