As I'm getting more into streaming i'm finding that trying to play games on a 32'' TV (full screen mode) and either Alt-tabbing out to keep track of twitch chat or using my mobile phone to do the same thing is a bit tedious.
Does anyone else have a duel monitor set-up not doesn't necessarily have to be for streaming that could offer me some advice on the following;
- Do I need a desk stand/wall mount?
- How does one go about connecting to monitors to their pc?
- Any recommendations on gear/monitors
Thanks.
You can just put two monitors next to each other on your desk. How you connect them to your pc depends on what connections your graphics card offers.
If you know the graphics card you have let us know and we can look. Would need the full name - 'Asus strix 1080', not just 'a 1080', for example.
Then, with two monitors, you'd have to run games in something like borderless window to avoid alt tabbing. Going beyond this requires more specific streaming hardware that isn't necessarily cheap or easy to set up - I wouldn't bother with this unless you start to make streaming a 'big deal' in your gaming.
I have 2 one 27 and one 24 inch and also have used them on normal stands but my setup at the moment has them on 2 arms on a desk mount. You can dual monitor on any gfx card with more than one output. I am using 980 gtx atm.
Let me know if you want to see what mount I am using it was only 45 gbp and will hold 2 x 27inch monitors
If you don't want to put holes in your wall https://www.amazon.co.uk/s/ref=nb_sb_noss?url=search-alias%3Delectronics&field-keywords=desk+mount+dual
If you do https://www.amazon.co.uk/Duronic-TVB1120-Bracket-Universal-Cantilever-Black/dp/B00PEQNZPM/ (to give you the ability to pull the monitor towards you) and/or https://www.amazon.co.uk/LCD201-Bracket-Swivel-Rotate-weight/dp/B0033AU388
I'm using the two latter mounts as i've no issues putting holes in my walls - they comfort me.
you could also check https://www.reddit.com/r/battlestations/ for examples (and in many cases, the gear they used).
This is the one I have don't have to make holes if you don't want to. https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/aw/d/B075SDLLP3/ref=mp_s_a_1_10?ie=UTF8&qid=1522533920&sr=8-10&pi=AC_SX236_SY340_FMwebp_QL65&keywords=vonhaus+monitor+stand&dpPl=1&dpID=41NTEP18OGL&ref=plSrch (https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/aw/d/B075SDLLP3/ref=mp_s_a_1_10?ie=UTF8&qid=1522533920&sr=8-10&pi=AC_SX236_SY340_FMwebp_QL65&keywords=vonhaus+monitor+stand&dpPl=1&dpID=41NTEP18OGL&ref=plSrch)

I live in a rented property so i'm hesitant to drill holes into walls - could those with the desk mounted arms link a picture of them in action on yer desks please.
Cheers
Done mate
Thanks Toby, much appreciated
Stick em to the walls with cellotape, whats the worst that could happen?
The r/ battlestations that pesteh linked I look at a lot as am about to gut out my pc room and have a 3m wide desk along width of wall.... And talking to pesteh and few of other guys I'm buying a worktop (3000mm x 900mm) then getting the legs from IKEA....sorted. plenty of room for monitors then.

I currently use 2 x 24" monitors about to change 1 for a 27"
its the best for streaming having 2 screens, if your wondering about mounting brackets there's a dual mounting bracket that fixes onto your desk via clamps.
there's many on amazon to choose from
btw talking about streaming dd what you using as a webcam and mic?
I have the same Dual Arm hardware that Toby listed, but paid a bit less, £40.
Available direct from Allcam (https://www.allcam.biz/products/allcam-gas-spring-desk-mount-lcd-monitor-single-double-twin-arms-stand-w-built-in-usb-audio-ports-tilt-135-swivel-360?variant=51736789651)
or via eBay (https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Allcam-Gas-Spring-Desk-Mount-LCD-Monitor-Single-Double-Twin-Arms-Stand/372067115337) from the same people.
I have my main 27" screen on a liftable stand up desk platform and the dual arms hold a 24" monitor and a laptop.
Correction, the same hardware that Pesteh listed, not Toby.

I'm not taking it too seriously at the moment - the small streamers I watch indeed use a webcam and desk microphone combo much as the same setup as sparko probably has - I may go down the route of getting a webcam but seeing how I go first.
I Currently use Logitech G533 for comms.
