There is a bar 10 yards from the LAN room, and a highstreet (with a fine Kebab establishment) 20 yards away.
The hotel gives us a heavily discounted rate on our rooms, and gives us the LAN room for FREE. Please respect the arrangement we have had with them for many years and the relationship we have built. [/FONT][FONT=&]Do not[/FONT][FONT=&] bring in alcohol from outside. There is a bar for that. Snacks and the odd salted seahorse latte from Costa are generally ok, but please bring such things in discretely (i.e. through the door leading directly to the LAN room, not via the public bar), and don't take the proverbial.[/FONT][FONT=&]

As most of you will know although these are the games we are running (sort of) structured events for, many others will be played at the LAN. Bring along whatever you fancy!
It is a good idea to run Steam/Epic Launcher/ Blizzard Launcher the night before the LAN to make sure you are up to date. There should be working internet at the event, but it is better not to have to rely on it for your 30gb update Friday morning.

I can't remember if my ethernet cable is cat 5 or cat 6, will it matter if it is cat5
We moved the network to cat6 a while back to try to improve the network.

That would be useful. I know we have some in the box but also some that are broken.
Have we checked them recently? I know we had some duds. Perhaps if someone has a cable tester they could bring it.
I, also, can't find my cat 6 cable so if you are able to get one a 3 metre green one would be great.
Microsoft seem to have become aware of the dMw LAN.
As we're not an Xbox gaming community they clearly hate us, and are trying to sabotage our event by postponing their next big update until today.
It might be an idea to either make sure you get your Spring Creators Update before Thursday morning or postpone it till you get home on Sunday.

ok got a nice collection of different colored 4m Cat7 patch leads for peeps to use.
I will also bring my copper modtap tester but this device just tells us if it does or does not work and not how well the cable is working.

Thought I'd give this a "bump" as a reminder to myself/all as there is a few lan threads and can be a bit confusing (for me anyway) RE: Instructions for updates.
