10:10 BST today (21/05/2018) - Server stopped.
Appreciate a quick restart when the admins are back from work or can login quickly.
Not that I'm bothered but I was in the big NPC camp in the East in the middle of a fight with 3 AI lol. I expect a recovery mission.
Recovered automatically, by 11:20 BST.
Edit: super patchy, up down, up down regularly.
Shes dead Jim :poster_oops:
Sorry, guys. There's nothing I can do from work. Home at 16:30.
Looks like BA5 offline as Arma 3 down too?
https://arma3-servers.net/server/4741/
No worries OB - its online when online
It's definitely cycling between going up and down (as at 12.34)
Something strange going on as I am trying to look at it but keep getting disconnected through the iLO to the server. Not sure if it's network or server at the moment.
This is how I check its status
https://www.trackyserver.com/server/dead-men-walking-89150
I got on long enough to see nothing strange in the server iLO event logs so looks like a network issue.
Thanks Whitey.
Thanks Whitey, this server seems to just kill the process if it's gonna die, no in between or recovery so I assume it was a network issue. Once Milli confirmed he had the same issue, then a UK centric issue or local switch where we host. Tryinh again now, ping is 32ms from NL, much better than the 100+ earlier.
Server started being very jerky tonight. I've restarted it but doesn't appear to have helped.
It seems better for me plus the duplicate npc's have gone.
This morning the character frame skipping and jumping issue is happening again. There are also double spawns. Seems logical to me that the double spawn bug is perhaps leading to the skipping issue.
I'd appreciate an admin restarting the conan server when time permits.
Thanks, Albert
Server may need a poke when possible. :flirty:
I concur, it's got that I'm here, I'm gone thing going on again. Totally pointless even trying to play until it's reset, it'll end in tears.
Restarting it now ... brb

'tis done.
It's still flaky! Just kicked me out again.
Quote from: Pingy;431905It's still flaky! Just kicked me out again.
I'm getting that too. It's a network issue at Brightstar I think.
Quote from: OldBloke;431906I'm getting that too. It's a network issue at Brightstar I think.
Yes, both the server and iLO are timing out. Same symptoms we had before.
I think it's down again.
Quote from: Penfold;431977I think it's down again.
Is it intermittent as it was a couple of days ago?
Possibly. It's up again now.
Yup, it appears to be cycling off and on.
Quote from: Penfold;431982Yup, it appears to be cycling off and on.
I've let Gandy know.
Thanks.
Has to be a local network issue, ARMA, Ark and Conan processes do not respond on their respective ports simultaneously. I setup basic tcp port monitoring on uptime.com for the 3 servers and all go down on the same test. There are no down detector or other alerts I can find for Brightstar as an ISP so either they don't disclose issues or only the part we connect to is impacted by this problem.
Maybe we could check the server logs for network port issues?
Nothing reported at the server level.
Well I say for sure it isn't a problem getting into or out of their BGP autonomous system...

So on failure the tcp trace is one ip hop from our server and that means you have LAN, server hardware or server software left to eliminate.
Interesting the "Terminate Event Occurs" error is, tracetcp says, is what happens when there are firewall ports blocking the connection.
Obviously we have a firewall on the server doing it's job properly, but could it be having some issues?
This is clearly difficult to troubleshoot without the hosting company talking to us.
Thanks, Albert. I've forwarded your post to Gandy.
Just to add to albert's post. Even though I take a different path in, I'm seeing the same behaviour, timeout 1hop from the actual server.
https://hastebin.com/yewamedewu.css
Seems to have stabilized within the 2 to 3 hours. Strangely enough my monitoring tool is saying it has been down for 2 hours 51 minutes. I am guessing that it came up around that time and the security stopping tcp monitoring from external started working properly.
I think under normal conditions monitoring from the internet for this is not permitted via some policy on a device or server.
I'm still thinking a firewall/ IPTable was on the blink and it's the root cause.
Anyway it's been stable enough for me to go out and kill the Reptilian Monstrosity again and get a Lovetap.
Just having a look and yes, 77.108.135.2 is the firewall that's hosted on BA5.
I've just logged on and it's running a strange version for x64. It's like it's running the 32 bit version but it's a 64 bit CPU! Still checking but it may be worth a backup of the firewall and rebuild from scratch.
Now to remember the vm details....
Don't worry about the firewall, I was having a look but it's not got anything to do with the issue as the problem hits the iLO port at the same time as the LAN one used by the pfsense firewall. I ran the "Stable" update a few days ago to see if it would help with the issue and it pulled that version down. Not an uncommon problem when doing a big jump if the posts I've been reading on it are anything to go by. It is reporting an error but everything is functional atm.
08:30 BST/ 09:30 CEST, starting again, same issue.
I'd be happy to look at any firewall logs or rules we have setup as it's my bread and butter so to speak, unemployment is for either a) gaming or b) finding a job or c) doing something useful. :D
ok, checked the router that's the last hop before, (77.108.131.7) and nothing in the logs there so that's all fine.
So, checked the switch and I'm seeing some broadcast storms occurring which is shutting the uplink ports down. So for now, tweaked the levels a little as they were a little conservative while I find out what device on that switch is causing it!

Thanks G, sounds like a breakthrough.
It's been stable and lag free for 30 minutes+ so far. I'll report if anything changes.
Thanks for sorting out the pfSense issue Gandy, I see it's now on the latest version with no errors or warnings.
all should be good now, the switch is a lot happier with the adjusted storm control values.
and the firewall is much better with the dark theme too ;)
I'm still interested in knowing if the broadcast storms are important traffic or as they should be avoidable (storms shouldn't happen IMO). My view is if a server has a process that is misbehaving enough to force uplinks on a network switch to shut down, it needs to stop as there is a still a problem and a work around is only masking it.
Appears to be cycling off / on again.
Thanks for checking into this chaps.
PC Patch Notes (15.06.2018) Build 100728/18311
Hello Exiles!
We have a pretty juicy patch for you for PC today! This patch will also go live asap for Consoles, barring issues with certification process at Sony and Microsoft.
We really want to thank you for your feedback, patience and ongoing support while we address issues and improve the game. Please keep posting bugs, feedback and issues you encounter, especially after patches, here on our forums.
We are also working with Gportal for IG server messages to get you a heads-up for servers going down for patches and maintenance. This should hopefully be available sometime next week for official servers and then shortly after also be implemented for private servers.
Also a quick note on the infamous “Light Armor Journey†Bug. The fix for this will go to testlive with the over 500 additional changes that is scheduled for next week. We know that you have been waiting for this for a while and we apologize for the delay!
HIGHLIGHTS
We added several adjustments that should help with Land Harassment
Combat Lock on should now priorize enemies over clan members
It’s now possible to whitelist players by their SteamID
Several Exploits have been addressed
Fixed some issues with Thralls not attacking properly

ADDITIONAL DECAY SYSTEM EXPLANATION FOR ADMINS
We’ve added a couple of new server settings that allow server admins to configure the decay system so that it considers buildings of a certain size to be insignificant and should therefore decay a lot faster than regular buildings. As long as there is no placeable involved.
The server settings are:
OverrideDecayMaxBuildingPieces
, default value 6. This means a building with 6 or less pieces will get its normal decay time overriden by the time specified in the following server setting
OverrideDecayTime
, default value 3600. The amount of seconds it will take this building to decay into abandoned state, and it will then stay in abandoned state for 10% of this time.
What the example of the default values, any building with 6 or less pieces will go into abandoned state after 1 hour. And then completely decay and be destroyed after 10 minutes in abandoned.
(Anyone can demolish an Abandoned building by interacting with it)
It will not get this overriden decay time if there is a placeable, like a bedroll or a campfire, near the building. And it will instead work like before.
This is a quick thing we added to combat the “mine-fields†of pillars/foundations placed around the world to claim land. But we’re looking into better approaches.
Some good QoL changes -
Admin can now whitelist via steamid
Combat Lock on should now priorize enemies over clan members
Fixed an issue with a corpse sometimes not being visible to the player
Is the server down?
Hoxfix - https://store.steampowered.com/news/?appids=440900
Small boot needed :)
That's it updated.
Chaps, having a wee bit of bother logging into the server. New one on me this. Server is visible, can be selected, OK prompt for password goes through, then it sticks on the loading screen well forever at least 10 minutes before I gave up. Appreciate a bump start please.

Thanks mate. No issue with timing.
