As you all know BlackAdder5 recently suffered a hardware failure which resulted in us having to spend some money to get it going again. BA5 is fast approaching its 5th birthday, so the chances of further hardware failures is much higher than with a new box. Council's view is that irrespective of whether BA5 can be further maintained, it is now time to replace BA5 with a brand new BlackAdder 6.
We still see a demand and need for our own server hardware and the server we want to purchase will cost just over £3,000. This will give us lights out management, redundant PSUs, high clock speed multi-core CPU, plenty of RAM and multiple disks (both SSDs and mechanical). We have planned for this eventuality and have been putting aside some capital over the past five years, so dMw currently has about £3,500 in its bank account, BUT we need to keep about £500 to provide short-term cashflow to meet month to month costs, and a further £500-750 for planned forum software upgrades, so we need to raise some additional funds. All being well, we will be ordering BA6 in mid August.

CLICK TO DONATE OR BECOME A SUPPORTING MEMBER (https://www.deadmen.co.uk/forum/content.php?194-Donate)
You can contribute either using Mastercard, Visa or Paypal (you do not need a Paypal account). If you want to avoid dMw paying Paypal charges for the receipt of your donation then please make a direct transfer into the dMw bank account, the details of which are on the above link.
We've got a lot of money currently in the dMw Bank Account, but not quite enough to buy the new server and keep enough aside for the rest of the expenses we are due to incur, so we need your help please to close the gap. Ideally we'd like to raise about £1,000 to keep enough in the account as a buffer.
On behalf of the dMw Council, thank you for your ongoing support for the dMw community!
Note: if you make a direct transfer to the bank *and* you want Supporting Member status then you will need to send a PM to Penfold providing details of the transfer as it will need to be added manually. (Supporting Member subscriptions via the Paypal route are automated).

A truly brilliant response from our community. Amazing but somehow not unexpected - that's how we roll :dmw:
Superb, warms me cockles that does. Given the number of awesome games releasing with dedicated server capability, having really good modern hardware in place is really future proofing the dMw approach.
Congrats all!
Agreed, what a great result!!!
It gives me high hopes for the "LAN 40: Hawaii" fund.
