It is that wonderful time of the year again when we have some very kind people and businesses willing to sponsor some real ales or real ciders that will appear at the LAN for your enjoyment at a bargain £1.50 per pint. All of the brews have been sampled by the now legendary beer festival team or pacifically asked for by the sponsor and we are fortunate enough for the hotel being able to supply it to us.
REAL ALE #3
Gold by Exmoor Brewery
Sponsored by: Myopic Sniper, Turd, Spazmo and Simagule
We could not get hold of the personal request from the Mashed guys, but this hopefully is going to be a great replacement. Exmoor Ale, their flag ship beer, and makes its way from the south west of good old England. Also noted by Camra in 2015 as the best Golden Ale in the South West. According to untapped this is a beer no one in the community has tried and expectations is a gooden.
Exmoor Gold is the original “single malt†traditional ale â€" Pale gold in colour with a malty aroma and flavour. A light sweetness is complemented by its long hoppiness resulting in a remarkable well-rounded beer. First brewed in 1986 and at 4.5% this is a good session no nonsense beer.

Thanks all, looking forward to this one also!
Cracking stuff! Great choice gortex. There was talk of trying to get a local bristol beer on but sadly that didn't work out. Exmoor is great beer and I do love my golden ales! Cheers!
Look forward to having it at the Lan, Do we know what order the beers are being put on for us?
Gortex sorts this with the hotel, I believe at the LAN itself. So, no, it's a surprise! :yahoo:
The hotel usually gets the barrels in on the Monday of the week and this give them time to settle (usually 3 days) properly and then they tap them Weds night or Thursday morning (depends who is on the bar).
We get a choice for what we want on first but I tend to hold back the Ciders until Friday as they are smaller size barrels and so this gives everyone a change to try them before they disappear. For the beer it is good to have a variety and we normally get two of the 3 bar taps for us to use with the 3rd being kept back for the other hotel guests. They can pour the beers straight from the barrel in the cellar but that takes time and is a bit of a pain for the bar staff. Chances are we will have the porter and one of the pale ales on first.

Just remember that we can't get to the good stuff until those two are gone! :getmecoat:
