Looks like it's time to reinstall Elite :lmfao:
If you're all gonna be playing again it'd be nice to catch you in space :D
Wow, it's nice to see others saying something about Elite.
You know, I've tested the game I've put more of my personal cash into, Star Citizen every PTU and it's never ever been even remotely stable enough to be a really enjoyable game.
Elite has always put stability and MVP (Minimum Viable Product) first. They might just have enough content out before SC even hit stable PU to make them a clear winner in this race.
I know SC will become a great game, but it still ain't happening with 3.3.
I'll be back on Elite as well shortly.
All I would say guys before this gets into SC vs Elite battle is, with squadrons coming soon and all other new stuff maybe elite can scratch your space game itch in the meantime.would be great if we can make it supported again and get our station back.

The Beta arrives for all players on the 30th after which there will be 4 weeks of testing: https://forums.frontier.co.uk/showthread.php/451045-Beyond-Chapter-Four-Beta-Announcement?highlight=chapter+four+beta
1st Nov they demo the squadrons feature.
Looks like I'll be heading back into the game in December.
Hmmmm, I'm looking to get into this again maybe.
The current issue I have is my gaming rig is cramped in my study and there is zero space for sticks.
Even the current mouse movement is problematic until I get my new study built I'll have to play using the Steam Controller as I'd rather not go kb + mouse.
Fun times ahead!
The controller should suffice mate. I might do the same for convenience.
I really love flying that Krait MKII the new-ish one from chapter 3, it's such a pleasure to fly and has fighters + space + large weps, what a dream boat :D
Yay

Rumor is up to 500 per squadron. Whole host of social interaction features. Guild structure and messaging for officers or groups etc. Most important squad mission or sharing of rewards or resources if you’re say mining.
Mining! Breaking big rocks with seismic charges. Looks awesome fun. Check the stream at:
https://youtu.be/2lsah4HX4LQ
13:40 for squadrons and 40:00 for rocks.
Thanks, 'bert. Looks more 'us' now if you get my drift.
Nicely done Albert, any info on whether we still have to play in the private group or if we can represent the squadron in open play/ mega group (like Mobious) ??
Hopefully we can do all sorts with it!
My personal view is Open is where the game action lies. We'll be forced into an open world in Star Citizen as well I believe. Plus since Elite is a mature game, most people know how to escape and rebuy is cheap anyway.
Large scale private groups like Mobius have less need for Squadrons. In Open play we can make strategic decisions and make a difference impacting the background sim.
I will not be heavily involved in beta play. Just to try the new Squad features on the second week and maybe remember how to play the game lol.
Just watched that stream, the asteroid mining looks fantastic, Really really impressed with what they've come up with in that regard, and the Squad play seems like its going to be QUITE versatile, and if anything, it looks like it will pool together information about whats going on much more efficiently, I especially liked the bookmark sharing etc... Looks impressively more like EVE online's complexity when these systems are all in... I wonder if there will be some serious pvp out there??
PvP has never been an issue in the bubble in Elite, just watch your back! Lot's of very dangerous perps out there.

What do you mean by pvp in a bubble? Could you expand on this please?
I've never played in open world (chicken chicken!) and consider the rebuy cost quite expensive as i rarely have large amounts of cash on hand.

Bubble = populated space, starting areas like Lave, Zeta Trianguli etc.
If you find the rebuy costs high Twyst you're amount of play must be every very low. An Anaconda well loaded can be rebought for 10 mill. 10 Mill can be made with a Type 7 in a few hours.
Hey but if nobody wants to play Open I'm up for anything, I just thought since might be a rebirth of the game if would be nice to play with people around and not just NPCs. Zeta Trianguli Australis where we are based has a lot of Allies of Winter's Power Faction which we were helping and they play in open. Our purpose of playing with them is they help up keep ZTA Deadmen and we keep it fortified each cycle which with say 4 people takes not time to do once a week. Because of the new squad system we can pledge to Winters and Ally with the players in the same boat.
Here are a few links about dMw in Elite:
Firstly our own links page, if I see intersts build in the game again I will review and update this: https://www.deadmen.co.uk/forum/showthread.php?43255-Elite-Tools-Websites-and-Info
EDDB: https://eddb.io/faction/12444
ED Blog run by Arithon: http://elite-dangerous-blog.co.uk/
DMW in Inara: https://inara.cz/squadron/2794/ - sign up and join there if you are interested in making our mark in the community. It also is able to read your API key and kep you plan builds from your inventory and find where to buy ships etc. (Do this by installing EDEngineer https://github.com/msarilar/EDEngineer) Pretty cool page.
I'm sure Arithon has more new pages he can share.
Also if you're worried about cash, the community goals take about 1hour to reach the second tier or third tier of rewards 75% and 50% and these both pay out millions for almost no work per week. I made 6.8mil last week for blowing up wanted npcs at the NAV point, and this is something we could team up to do as well if you're not keen on getting into combat solo.

Maybe I'm doing it wrong then.
I have a type 7 already but was making maybe 1 mill per hour from my hazy memory.
I have 9m in cash which is way short of a python or conda.
I'm currently going around in a cobra mk3 which i think is pretty well upgraded, just re-teaching myself the basic w steam controller.
So far dogfighting seems much harder but landing/docking is much easier.

No no, you mis-understand. Previously I was to chicken to go open world, but after spending an our or so back in the game I'll all for it as I have more than sufficient for a re-buy of my cobra.
It's the rebuy of the type 7 and lost cargo that probably scares me! lol.

Let's get together and make you some money. I can make a 5 million every half hour trading and take the financial weight of the cargo and we just team up as wing. Also the wing delivery missions are particularly lucrative.
Sounds like a plan! I should be online about 7:30ish onwards tonight if that works for you.
And if you get sick of that I'll take you on the community goal whatever it is this week for sweet millions

should be fine, just playing a couple of rounds of World Golf Tour.
What we did yesterday was a multiplayer mission to deliver about 3000 units of goods one hop from Jameson Memorial. One player takes the mission and invites the others in the wing to participate. Its intuitive, clear and earned about 2.1mill. I think once polished it’s a 5 minute job for a wing of 4 with decent cargo capacity. I don’t quite understand the distribution of rewards. Twyst couldn’t find where his rewards was listed or even if it was paid.
This in the current version not the beta so it should be even better with the new version. I expect there to be multipart missions and voice acted story and dialogue.
Like everything Elite, you need to prepare. Turning up 25 hops from the rendezvous point isn’t going to make your enjoyment level increase. But I drill this one all the time.
I think the beta performance is about 30% better than live.
And Squadrons are live on the Beta, so is mining but I struggled to understand how to enter mining mode:
https://forums.frontier.co.uk/showthread.php/454587-Content-Recap-Beyond-Chapter-Four-Livestream-Mining-and-Squadrons
So this goes live on Tuesday and I was wondering if anyone would like to meet up to try it out? I think perhaps if we aim to get to Zeta Triangulai Australis in the "Albert" private group to start with it might make it easier to meet up. I will then setup invites to the Guild and Squadrons and see how this pans out. I will likely be online tomorrow but my experience of the launch, whist generally smooth normally takes 24 hours to settle.

I'd be up for that.
I can be online tomorrow as well!
I can probably get a cobra and t7 there to fly, maybe something smaller and lighter as well. I'll look into moving my ships tonight, no idea what time though. Probably late knowing me.
I’ll be online tomorrow for it

Silly question... Are we going to get squadron invites or do we need to manually apply? If so, how?
Also we're looking at servers up around 6pm if all goes well and Reddit is correct.
I got my ships moved so see you later tomorrow .... I mean tonight. Lol
I played the Beta for an hour and at that point nobody else was on to test the system...so we're winging it mate. I might be out tonight depending on work. I also had no luck getting my CH Control software to recognise my HOTAS after a win10 reinstall. So if I'm on it'll be to just admin the guild and test.

So incase anyone is starting out or just strapped for cash, just goto Robigo Mines (the platform) either in a Cobra or Python decked out for long range travel (ie, D modules and A rated FSD).
If you're in the bubble, pickup 3E passenger modules - the rest can be bought at Ceso, which is near Robigo.
If you're in a cobra it will take around 6 hours to earn a python.
If you're in a python, you can make 80mil per hour at least with minimal rep.
Basically you dock at Robigo Mines, accept passenger missions from the passenger board to Sirius Atmospherics.
You can get to Sothis (then system which contains the above destination) in 3 (cobra) or 4 (python) jumps.
Apparently you can engineer the FSD to do it in 2 jumps with the Python and that brings in serious money as the turnaround time is much faster.
You *could* run mission from Hausers Reach in Robigo as well in a larger ship.
I started off doing this in a Type-7 and it does pay better than the cobra - however, most of the time you will take at least 1 wanted passenger which means you need to shoot through the letter box very very quickly before being scanned, which IS possible in a Type-7 it's just very hard.
It certainly got my heart pounding. After 10 successful docks, I promptly crashed into the letter box and just made it in. After that I was too slow getting in, was scanned and became wanted. At this point I just let my ship get scanned and destroyed by the feds to clear my bounty and spawned back at a jail station a VERY long way from anywhere.
The lession here is if you're after fast cash use a smaller ship and run missions from the mines.

Superb mate thanks for sharing!!! I want to try this tomorrow for sure. By the way 02:49 AM!!! Dedication.

Glad you like!
I sometime suffer from insomia and just can't sleep, so I play. Unsure if good or bad thing :)
After failing miserably first time around as I never realised I had to head to A 5 immediately after honking and I was scanned.
Second attempt I managed to earn 20 mill CR in under 10 minutes. I was already Allied to the Sirius Corp which helped get the missions to over 4 mill per hit.
Thanks again Twyst.
So I've now gotten a Python and Krait MK2 from running passengers and still have 140M in the bank.
Currently unlocking engineers. Have FSD 5A G5 now, can do 29LY in my krait. Need to find a way to 33.1LY so I can participate in Distant Worlds (http://elite-dangerous.wikia.com/wiki/Distant_Worlds_II) 2 in 6 days time.
Might have to sacrifice my hardpoints or run a smaller fuel tank.
Congrats! The game becomes so much more fun at this point eh?
It sure becomes a lot easier to get to the new content!
So after doing the math, I need to unlock a lot of engineers to get my Krait upto the required lightyear range AND try and get a guardian FSD OR a guardian FSD boost and lose a slot.

I've not unlocked the Guardian FSD yet. That should be interesting.
