I've been waiting for a price drop before getting my next PC and Scan have announced a £250 discount on some of their 3XS PCs.
This one has caught my eye (https://www.scan.co.uk/products/3xs-gamer-rtx-intel-core-i7-8086k-coffee-lake-16gb-ddr4-8gb-evga-rtx-2070-500gb-ssd-2tb-win-10).
What do those in the know think?:)
It looks very sensible.
You'd be hard pressed to build something comparable for less, tbh, and with Scan they will do it all for you and back you up with decent warranty cover too. If you wanted to spend more, you could get something with a bit more graphics grunt, but this machine is by no means a slouch and will handle pretty much everything at '1440p 120Hz' for now.
If it fits your budget, I'd say go for it.
Thanks for confirming this Chaosphere. I think it is time to commit and press the button to replace my ageing PC.
No problem, I'm sure you will love it :)
Please can you post up the spec link once you have it.
It's there on the Scan page Pen
8086k
240mm AIO
16gb 2666 ddr4 (2x8)
500gb SSD
2tb HDD
RTX 2070
550w psu
Doesn't give info on specific brands but Scan don't use dodgy stuff so should all be fairly big names.
It does mention that it's built on the B360 chipset, which is one of the cheaper coffee lake chips and thus won't support overclocking or dual GPUs. As long as this isn't a problem then most users won't notice much of a difference between this and a more expensive motherboard. God knows what the VRM will be like... But I'm not going down that rabbit hole again :roflmao:. As said, for most users it'll be absolutely fine.
Pics and your thoughts when it arrives please Snooks!
Button pressed!! :dribble:
But 'Unfortunately due to high demand and with the holiday break we are currently out of stock of the selected system but we do have more in production.' :crying:
Not due to arrive until Friday.
New PC arrived today!!! :woot2:
Very nice and neatly cabled. Easy to add the HDD from the old PC and looks like the SSD will also go in nicely once I've confirmed everything is working OK and I've wiped the old OS off it.
It's got lights that change colours! :yahoo:
It's also very quiet.
Frantically loading stuff onto it and then I can start playing.
Excellent :thumb:
Very nice enjoy it mate :) I am green with envy
