If anyone is interested in military history and/or aviation you might like this. Daks Over Normandy is an event to commemorate the 75th anniversary of D-Day and will most likely never be repeated.
It will see many Douglas DC-3/C-47 Dakotas taking to the sky's again in formation to drop hundreds of paratroops. The organisers are hoping for 35+ aircraft and many of these saw action on D-Day.
They are currently gathering at Duxford from around the world and the programme will start on the 4th June with formation flying and mass parachute jump. On the 5th June there will be some more activities at Duxford in the morning and then in the afternoon they will cross the channel escorted by Spitfires and P51 Mustangs and jump into Drop Zone K near Sannerville, an original DZ on D-Day.

There is also lots going on in Portsmouth, especially after Trump has left. Red arrows and a spitfire flyby plus lots more.
Nice! I remember coming back from a LAN towards Stansted and a bomber and 2 spitfires flew over, such a brilliant sound by just those planes. I can't imagine what loads of planes like that would make soundwise. Hopefully up here in the Netherlands they'll try and do something similar.
I do remember when being around the age of 9 or something they had a few planes flying over dropping loafs of bread as some bombers used to drop them because the Dutch were starving during WWII
For those that like a read, this is fantastic. Really interesting read and written as a timeline from first person perspectives. Vv good.
