It is that wonderful time of the year again when we have some very kind people and businesses willing to sponsor some real ales or real ciders that will appear at the LAN for your enjoyment at a bargain £1.50 per pint. All of the brews have been sampled by the now legendary beer festival team or pacifically asked for by the sponsor and we are fortunate enough for the hotel being able to supply it to us.
REAL ALE #2
Chocolate Orange Delight by Downton Brewery
Sponsored by: Duval and Gorliath
Another new one for us and another one sampled by a few of us at the GBBF 2019 with a recommendation to appear at a Lan for further taste and trial.
The brewery is from a very small town in Wiltshire and you might be relieved to know it has nothing to do with Highclere Castle and the fictional world of Lord Grantham etc, even though it shares the name. A speciality old ale that speaks for itself. Pronounced chocolate flavours and a pleasant orange addition combine perfectly in this delightfully different offering. Even though classed as a porter it also falls into the category of Bitter which means it is slightly less harsh type of the black stuff. At 5.8% this packs a good punch and close to one of the strongest ales we have gone for at a Lan.

Big thanks to both Duval and Gorliath for this one and I can't wait for more samples to be taken.
Cheers chaps! a fine dessert tipple?
Thank you both very much for sponsoring this keg !
