Title: Double Teaming
Post by: Benny on February 10, 2004, 09:52:40 AM
I noticed this a while ago, but it rarely happens, and I might be talking the proverbial...

If there are two of you, one either side of a corridor, if you time your straffing in and out with eachother, the oppo, has to switch targets and is under constant fire. When you reload the other is firing etc.

The other thing is, when you strafe back into cover, the oppo is lining up your cover for an easy hit as you re-appear, with the two this doesn't happen.

I'll draw you a pic if it doesn't make sense.

I prefer shooting both at the same bloke so it goes faster killing him. It depends on the area he/we are in. It happens alot that people just line up and the bullets go through the first and also the second.

I was thinking more in terms of long corridors. Weh you strafe out and shoot a few rounds then duck back in, the guy at the other end is lining up your cover to pop you as you come out again.

If the other attacker then comes out from the opposite side, he has to adjust his aim, by which time he's on his way back in again.....whilst first covered man comes out.

I've seen it done, more by accident than intention, and it stops either single player being the sustained target for fire.

what bugs me is when your in close proximity to your team mates and they start zig zagging all over the place. Also another bug bear is when people run past you(i.e. im sat down covering a corner) and the other player jumps into my line of site. Consequently if an opponent moves out and shoots he gets both of us (i cant shoot for fear of killing my team mates).

I guess its only through double teaming and making clear calls as to what your doing that would also make a great difference.

More practice sessions i say, or at least some of you guys could make demos of how to move and eliminate, i.e. on bridge/doors (aztec)

That would be cool.

Yeah, I'm an advocate of not zigzagging, and always say on the bridge on Aztec for example, stay left, or stay right etc.

It is infuriating to not be able to pull the trigger and to die a death.

I'll add a caveat here, I'm not very good.

But occasionally I do see the good bits;

Up the stairs on Italy, 2 CT's backs to wall covering eachothers heads. First up and under the window, fire a few blasts into the window sill to get some breathing space for the followers.

I don't honestly see a reason for zigzagging unless you are in space being fired on or are avoiding a sniper......correct me?

Its quite hard to double Team ..I have tried it with a few players and it takes a good understanding from both ....If you get it to work it feels and looks great with both players stealing eachothers kills..The hard part is distance and timing not borkinng eachother from a retreat is the hard bit

If you try to cover a player / team up as daft as it sounds let them know, that will stop them standing up or moving into your line of fire

Always worth a try

Ahwel, last night we were on italy and I had a scout and a dude infront of me had a shield and I asked him to move a bit so I got a clear shot at 1 of the T's in the window. Ufortunatly he didn't move so I had to stick out my neck so the T could shoot me. A shield can perfectly cover a scout if necessary.

About the sound thing. You being quiet and some rushes by, I know what you mean, had it a couple of times but on MH it's quit allright. Otherwise just ask if they want to be quiet.
