whats dmw's plans for d2 going forward?
Unfortunatley currently there aren't sufficient numbers playing regularly for the dmw clan to be a valid option. We lose bonus XP and weekly rewards as a result since the clan never reaches max level in a season.
Long term it will depend what Bungie do with this next story expansion, they will actually be reducing the overall size of the expolorable solar system to make for easier maintenance.
If they make good improvements then I would expect some people to come back and try it, since its free to play. Bungie may have burnt their bridges when it comes to people investing in new content however.
The whole sunsetting of weapons really put a dent in my interest in D2, which is a shame as I've really enjoyed it up to this point, I've got this season as I brought the season pass so I'll carry on playing, but at the end i'll probably re-evaluate what I think about the game.
There is still a free seasonpass offer if you play the game free on Stadia. Unfortunately it does not translate to the PC version of the game even with the cross platform.
There is logic to the sunsetting of weapons though... They made a mistake with the power level of guns like Recluse and Mountaintop. They either nerf those guns into mediocrity or the power creep gets to insane levels. With sunsetting, they let people keep the guns for lesser activities but force people to use new load outs for harder content like raids and nightfalls etc. so new weapons they release will get used.
Also, I've jumped back into the game after being away since Shadowkeep. Got some grinding to do to get the power level up but up for doing dungeons and nightfalls etc. Have also done most of the raids if we have the numbers and people fancy trying them.
As long as this season offers some interesting content numbers should improve, last season content was dire. Didn't really touch it except to do weaponsmith bounties. Still glad to see there are still a few hanging in there. Would appreciate your opinion on this seasons content.
I don't think the season is worth it for the content alone really, it's just a bigger + more hectic public event similar to EP, there's the dungeon but that's free to all. I think the only draw would be the story but it's going to be drip fed leading up to September.
The 1080 nightfall is apparently currently bugged & the enemies are at 750, so if you're looking to farm it, now would be a good time.
I have yet to load this game, it's sitting in my steam library waiting to be ring in anger for the first time. That time will be soon, I'm getting very bored with Divinity 2!

If/when you do TL you'll probably have no idea what to do as the new player experience is a bit of a train wreck, my best advice would be to start on the old campaigns (while you can, some of the locations are being mothballed) - speak to Amanda Holiday in the hanger at the tower & you can pick them up - Red War, Curse of Osiris, Warmind is the order they came out in.
I followed the wikipedia dialogue to get an idea of the order to do things. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Destiny_2#Post-release_content
The original D2 campaigns have their ups but are not the best honestly. They do affect overarching story, and strikes you end up playing won't make sense without knowing what happens in them, though you could get that from a YouTube video to be fair.
Forsaken is very solid but the story so far is pretty self contained. I think you have to buy the Forsaken expansion to get access to the story, dungeon and Raid. This content isn’t being sunset/mothballed come September and I’d assume it will probably go free, so might not be worth buying right now?
Shadowkeep is the most recent expansion (until September rolls around) and is way more relevant to current events than the previous one. Doubt this one will be free when the next expansion rolls around, but might get cheaper.
Unless you get well into it or don’t mind splashing some cash, I’d wait on buying Forsaken and Shadowkeep until September.
I have forsaken and shadowkeep, but never gotten around to playing them!
I am correcting that now :)
Oh this episode of This Week in Destiny 2, Beyond Light (September big expansion) has been delayed until November 10th. More info here: https://old.reddit.com/r/DestinyTheGame/comments/hsdfr9/beyond_light_release_window_update/
They've said they are extending the current season and will hold some special events to make up for it.
There's currently a setting on the old raids that stops the weekly reward lock out, so if people want to try the raids and get the funky weapons from there, between now and then is the time to do it, as amognst other things, a lot of the raids are being removed come November.
More details on the raids:

Anyone that plays Titan & doesn't have Lion Rampants, Xur's got them on sale, they really help doing any kind of jumping puzzles & stuff, very much worth getting.
