Well, after a long wait here are the details for Dead Men Walking LAN V.  
Please note that we have 40 places and these will be allocated on a first come first served basis.  

Members of dMw's Bravo, Charlie & Delta Companies are hereby given advance notice of the event.  
Alpha Company members will not be able to see this thread or book places at the LAN for a further 7 days, so please do not mention it in the open 'Alpha' forum until Tuesday 24th February

Note: Almost everyone turns up on the Friday between lunchtime and early evening to have a great social eating & drinking session.  Gaming then continues into the small hours. Turning up on Friday is highly recommended!

Details:

Dates:  Friday 23rd, Saturday 24th & Sunday 25th April 2004
Venue:  The Olde Griffin Hotel, March, Cambridgeshire (http://www.smoothhound.co.uk/hotels/oldegrif.html)
Times: The LAN venue opens at 12.00pm on Friday lunchtime and the LAN will finish at 5.00pm on Sunday 25th April.
Costs: For the venue - £15 per head for the 3 days
Costs: B&B room prices £39 for a double, £39 for a twin room (ie £19.50 per person), £25 for the sole single room.
Room Availability: 1 x Single; 12 x Double; 7 x Twin & a Family Room (2 x singles and 1 x double)

PLEASE BOOK YOUR OWN ACCOMODATION DIRECT WITH THE HOTEL - CALL THEM NOW!

When the Griffin is fully booked you will need to book into the Oliver Cromwell or a B&B etc.  Details are posted in the separate accomodation thread in this topic.  

Amongst other things the LAN will feature:

- a list of officially supported games
- organised competitions
- official LAN Admins  
- late night gaming
- Steak Night meal @ The Griffin on Friday evening
- Saturday night meal @ the Chinese

Further info will follow shortly, but in the mean time please reply here with the info requested above to confirm your place.

Doggers has replied to this thread already, but has not yet realised that it is not on view to anyone other than forum Admins yet as the post is still in draft! :lol:  Oh well, the response counts anyway, a place is reserved for you DM.  I will make this thread visible to Bravo & Charlie Company tomorrow night by which time I will have edited in the confirmed costs etc.  Alpha Company get to see the post one week after that.

Book up now peeps, so, whilst I'm at it:

Also we ought to point out there is a very nice hotel across the road too if I remember right.  Sorry, cant remember the name.

Ive planned to come.. and thought the lan would fall under my Easter Hols..
which it hasnt by 1 day.!!!
 So ill have to check my schedule and see if im on exam leave.

Hotel booked, but they told me the double room was £59 per night?  Did we have a group rate booked?

The extra £20 is for services whilst in the room. Basically a tenner gets me for an hour, £8 you get the Euro-Massage Special (Sadako and Duvel) including dirty talk and £2 gets you DA for 2 hours.

I opted for all three.

Well i phoned them was put on hold for a min listened to some wierd mucis lady picked up said yes many people have also booked for those days then i managed to get a double for the same price as a single  :narnar: ive got room number 3.

General comment to everyone:  Please can we keep the thread on track?  I am having trouble working who has actually said yes they are coming to the LAN! For example I had missed Fatal & GFK from my list!

Btw Fatal - you might have the normal FatBob accommodation booked, but according to this thread he is not coming to the LAN yet.  You may want to remind him to grab aplace before the final few slots disappear when this thread opens to Alpha Company tomorrow?

Red - you're in the list but we must have confirmation soon please.

I am trying to get the other accomodation details from FatBob - he is the 'local' man.  There is a good B&B and there is an Inn I think, all close to the hotel as I understand it.  Should have the details within 12 hours me hopes if FB calls me back :D

OTOH - is anyone with a room at the Hotel still needed a roomie to share with?  Sn00ks needs to know ASAP!

Unfortunately, i can't go. The dates clash with me best mate's wedding. :(

i've spent most of the last 36 hours trying to find a way round it or get out of it, but he's not having any of it and simply refuses point blank to change the day. (But what's a week if you're going to be together for all eternity though, eh?) The fact that it's in a different country doesn't help much either...

Mrs Eggs has been atempting to console me with that "but your best mate only gets married once and there's two LANs every year..?!" nonsensery. Of course, never having been to a dMw LAN she completely fails to understand that each and every dMw LAN is as unique and important as any bloody wedding you care to name. (er, possibly)

i'm to be an usher too, btw. Not quite sure what that involves yet, but i imagine that i as an usher i have to dress like a penguin and ush the ushees into their appropiate ushrative places, or something.... but whatever it is i know it's not going to be as much fun as sitting in a darkened room with 30+ top blokes staring into a screen and laughing a great deal.

For those of you who might be relieved, knowing that your CS team might stand a better chance in the LAN tourney now...forget it. i intend to hand over leadership of Eggy's Ovoids to Albert (again). Ergo, you shall die. Many times!

So, short of faking my own death or swotting up on the latest DNA cloning technology, i'm afraid that as you all rush right through the mincer i'll be ushing left past the vicar.

What's doubly irksome is that i was going to show off my brand new self-built fandangled silver dream machine; The Gelid Albumen too, but now you'll have to wait till the next one or just look at the piccies i'm going to put up asaic.

TL will confirm any sec now. The event fee will be £10-15 depending on how many will attend. That fee is payed on location to a LAN admin and it only covers the the charge for the LAN room. All meals will be payed separately and as previous LANs we usually all eat together and get a group reduction in price.

Ghost, you have a place booked in your name.  I have edited you into the first post in this thread to show you as booked.  The actual hotel we are at is fully booked, but if you check under the separate accomodation thread then you will see the details of the other hotel that is being used.

As for the LAN fee (£15) it will be collected by either me or Oldbloke at some point during the LAN.  We think it is stonking good value for the use of the nightclub for 2.5 days!  As Sadako said, your own room costs, beer, food and any other costs are your own look out!

Need a mouse

I need a mouse preferrably a corded optical as i hate ball ones as my cordless intellimouse explorer 2.0 is very laggy and is giving me problems during close combat games such as cs and ET hope someone can help

O and also is the MX700 by logitech any good?

Don't know about the 700 but the 500 is good.  I will have a spare corded mouse at LAN.

i have the mx700 and have not noticed any lag!(i know this was a prob with microsoft cordless)  feels exactly the same as any other corded mouse in response.
The thing i have noticed say in conterstrike is sometimes the buttons have a mind of there own so i could press fire and release it but it will proceed to empty the clip or i could press the side button to crouch but when i release the button i would stay crouched. i have pretty much erradicated all this though with receiver positioning the only thing i still get is occasionally its as if it thinks i have scrolled the wheel and leaves it with the selection bar highlighted at the top of the screen.
It also took me 3 different units to get one that worked first 2 would not recharge.
 
i still think its great though and use it over my microsoft 5 button explorer :D

Does anyone have a spare PC he can use to save me the embarrasment of making him use his mum's Athlon 1.4?
