I will probably going to be going "Fae" server, Covenant in the Open beta, unless that server turns out to be way too busy...

That saves me doing any research, I'll try to follow you there! Not sure about Covenant though!

You have to register an interest in the beta. This is done on the New World steam store page. This can be done now
Thanks and done

email received and "New World Open Beta" showing up in my steam library... just 37Gb to download for 3pm now :)
I just had to re-register my interest in joining the beta, I thought they carried forward the registration from the aborted beta, but apparently not. Oh well, hopefully it will show up in Steam for me shortly.

List of Worlds - Fae is on the list which was been mentioned earlier in the thread

It just appeared on Steam for me. Download speed is pretty good, I got a steady 110MB/s according to Steam. so it should download pretty quick for you Gunda.
and its live early ! go go go
Right I'm on the Fae server and at the point where I have to pick a faction. If we want to play together do we all have to be in the same faction and if so which one is the one to join?
You pick a faction at lvl 10 and you can play with other factions (group to do dungeons etc), but the exception will be pvp content.
I'll likely follow Gunda and join covenant if I get to lvl 10 (I don't think it takes too long) and just try and group with a few of you guys to do some of the main quest line. I doubt I'll be getting close to lvl 25 to enjoy the first dungeons.
You can flag yourself for pvp from level 10 and there is some damaging scaling it even the fights out but you will likely be lacking in weapon abilities. Wars are limited to 50 ppl and I believe lower levels will get kicked from the war group to make room for higher levels, so again, I doubt that's content I will bother with in the beta.
I joined Covenant on Fae for the same Gunda-reason! Character name is Tealeaf, unsurprisingly.
Not played New World since the Alpha and I was quite impressed with the changes made. Feels very much more fluid now and the combat system has been worked up a lot more. I like the crafting systems, lots of choice and I can see that being quite fun to max out. Not tried a dungeon yet and still only playing with a sword and board, but overall a very enjoyable experience.
My first impression was underwhelming - standard MMO fare, fetch quests and grinding galore.
I didn't think it would ever really be for me, as I don't consider myself an MMO fan. However for whatever reason the more I play the more I find myself enjoying the game.
Overall I am getting more and more tempted to pick this one up. The lack of a monthly fee certainly helps. Fitting it in around a newborn might pose a challenge... but that sounds like a problem for September 28th. :D

That's very similar to how I felt. Very formulaic in the early levels, but then I found that choice opening up way beyond what I had previously seen and experienced. The PVP elements added that required bit of spice (and resulted in my character's first death), and the breadth of crafting options was really quite impressive.
One thing is missing though. Autorun!
Just hit =
:D
There's also a setting that lets you turn on auto traverse (instead of having to press jump to climb), although I've left that off as I can imagine it to be quite annoying.

Congrats on the new version :)
But it's really on a challenge to fit playtime with friends as it's fairly stop - nappy change - start - stop - feed - start cycle.
For times when the new version is awake at night, a baby bouncing chair helps and you can get some good solo play time in :)
However, the real joy comes in when they can sit on your lap and you play together, but that's likely a few years away.
We have a wrap, so I can at least game with her strapped to me while sleeping, which has been fun! :D
Will be great to share gaming with her as she grows up, for sure. Enjoying every day atm, it really is a joy. :)

She'll grow up thinking that a resting heart beat is about 120 if you're playing fps all the time!

If I hit 120 bps for my resting heart rate that means I'll be entering the Fat Burn zone on my fitbit!
So play Overwatch to loose some poundage? :D
