I've been meaning to get into Dark Souls for ages, so figured I'd give this a punt given the exceptional reviews. I also thought I'll take it slow and prove the world wrong and complete without dying. I lasted 4 and a half minutes.
I've just spent an hour trying to kill some big knight dude in an old village and after maybe 20 attempts I got him down. My reward.....nothing. No big reward, no sudden progress. I love this game.
It's so far from my normal path it's ridiculous, but I've barely left the first area and I can see this consuming my free time for a long time yet. Anyone else had a crack?
Glad ya having a blast I loved it. If ya new to to Souls I recommend following a starter guide as the amount of unexplained stuff it throws at you is overwhelming. Quest chains are all but impossible without help and you can miss out on content and useful gear if they are not finished.
When the penny dropped "It is not a hack and slash" I enjoyed it more and more
Its a slow burn but as you explore the more in depth it becomes and the more expansive your toolbox will need to be.

Good luck Tarnished one :flirty:
Cheers Jas, it's a beast of a game. I'm mooching about on torrent and having the odd fight. It's the crafting and levelling up I need to get into a bit more and finding some ranged weapons.
Right now, I love it!

I'm still trying to get past that castle near the starting point, every time I think I'm near the top level they throw another half dozen baddies my way, it's relentless. If anyone wants at co-op early game then let me know, happy to join in.
Is that the one with the archers, then the melon head, then the fire chuckers? Or stormveil?
I also have the game and have played quit a bit so far what for me is a bit questionable is the crafting and those ashes of war and how to use those.
This is the first game that I'm actually looking up on YouTube on how to do things so maybe need to learn that also.
The best tip by far is the one from OB, setting it to mouse and keyboard settings rather then the annoying gaming default.
I've really enjoyed playing it, the feeling you get after two hours of trying different things to down a boss and then finally killing it is priceless. Most I got down reasonably quickly, but that Elden Beast was a nightmare as a mage!! :ranting2:
I had a few flat spots where I just sit there thinking how the hell am I gonna do that......then I wander off, come back and beat whoever it was. I love it! It helped I went and killed the big beasty dragon for 10000 runes but I'm still dying far more than I should!

I've been trying to run through the Sellia Crystal Tunnel in Caelid to beat the Fallingstar Beast and get a Somber Stone lvl 6 for my sword. I have more success alone with my spirits than a co-op, but it's driving me crazy. I can do the whole mine but there's no save point outside the boss arena so I end up using one or two refills and find myself lacking the last strong attack to get the job done. On the other hand I finally got through Stormveil, best the big guy 3rd attempt. I'm now splitting my time between this and Tiny Tina's Wonderland, a Borderlands spin off with a lot of humour.
Sometimes you just need to rush through the enemies towards the boss gate, it worked for me a couple of times, this way I had all the health I needed. I still need to kill the Fallingstar one though, I got him almost a few times but then always something new happens.
The bad thing about the games sometimes is though, you start playing and you get summoned, happend 3 times in a row once for me within 20 minutes... Is there a way to cancel the summon?

Yes,, just go to Global settings and go offline. Then you don't get invaded. Invasion is a pain in the arse.
