Title: New PC Time
Post by: Jamoe on December 04, 2022, 12:43:47 PM
Looking to build an "entry level" PC for my eldest. He plays stuff like Rocket League, Warzone 2, Ark, F1 2021 etc

I've already got the SSD (and a second 2.5" SSD for more games). I've also got 16G of 2666 ram after updating my own rig so those will be ok initially.

CPU and GPU are up for debate and I'm watching prices like a hawk at the moment.

I'm not up to speed on current CPUs, so I can't add much to that bit... but it you can I'd wait until the new AMD GPUs release on the 13th before buying a graphics card. It's very possible prices will come down in the new year as a result.

That's worth knowing, cheers Chaos. I've got a 970 sat round and if that's too big, a GTX 770. So we could delay the GPU purchase until the new year.

I'm fairly sure my wife has a 970 sat in the mATX version of that case, so I don't think that'll be an issue.

It's the GIGABYTE GTX 970 WindForce which is 12.3" (I think it's the longest 970 out there). Still it will either fit or it won't :)

I am still running a 970. Does feel like it needs upgrading though.
