Hello all!
As per discussions on Discord I've been thinking about trying to do an online CSGO DEAGLE tournament for a while and figured may as well gauge the interest and preferred structure.
For those that don't know, the usual LAN structure is a 2v2 bracket structure. We have done single and multi elim in the past I believe, so everyone gets to play everyone. For an online tournament I am wondering what peoples preferred structure would be. I've given a few options but if there's anyone else people would like to do, throw it out there. I want to try and avoid this being a really long drawn out affair though to ensure that it gets finished.
For all we options we will try and seed the teams the best we can.
* Single elim or double elim - People play their bracket game, if they win, they progress to next bracket to play the winner of another bracket, etc..etc.. pretty standard tournament structure. Double elim, you drop down to losers bracket to play a final game before potentially exiting.
* Round robin - Everyone plays everyone. This would comprise of a few rounds where teams face off.
A little mini league
* Could do home and away matches, record points for a win, number of rounds won/lost like goal difference to act a decider if needed or a deciding match to be played in any ties.
Maps
* Anyone have any preference for maps? I personally quite like that warehouse one we already play (aim_deagle7k) but am open to suggestions. Might be worth doing something else to separate it from the usual LAN event.
A few I have found:
Deagle Xfire - https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=152411921
Aim Deagle - https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=377312340
Aim deagle fun - https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=714156664&searchtext=deagle+map
Aim 2v2 - https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=569103620
I believe the config can be edited to set the primary starting and secondary weapons so any map that doesn't explicitly say deagle should still work.
Finally
What would best suit people - we try and get all the games done in a single weekend. Everyone is online, we play in turns, could stream to Discord etc.. We only have the one server so we'd have to wait for a game to finish for the next to start.
We spread this out over a short period. The matches are drawn, it's up to the teams to arrange a time to play amongst themselves. We would need to keep this tight to avoid matches taking a long time to play and ensuring that the tournament ends.
If you are interested if you could put your name down so I can get a rough idea on participants and this might help decide the structure we go with.
I've sent a load of links for alternative 2v2 maps on discord (I'll edit this post tomorrow to include them for others to see).
We can likely get another server on the go if we ask Whitey nicely? Failing that, I've enough credits on dathost to host another server or two for the duration of tournament - I guess this would ultimately depend upon the number of players participating.
I'd be up for this, put me down as a yes
Yes please put me down for this too.
Whitey has started the server side and got it a place where we can start addidng requierements. Once they have been thrashed out.
Great idea. I'd be down.
Common 1v1 maps on servers i've played are:
Aim_Redline https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=125995702&searchtext=aim_redline
Aim_Map_Pro https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=701833987&searchtext=aim_map_pro
I know I'm not that active but I'd be down for this
count me in
Count me in please - availability might be tricky, but what the heck :)
Yeah sure im down for this =3
Count me in!
id be up for this, but im 3 hours ahead so could be interesting
If I'm free, I'll play!
Decent turn out so far, pesteh replied so I am assuming he is in:
* uni
* pesteh
* sparko
* BT
* Mr P
* Gunda
* Hellmate
* Twig
* Addx
* Prod
* Sulky
* Chaos (?)
The server is up and running. I have found a config that should form a solid basis and a dozen or so maps. I believe BT has passed the maps and config on to Whitey so we should be close to having that sorted. I will probably spend some time messing around on server, see how the maps play, check the config works as intended.
I am thinking of starting this Saturday 11th Feb. In the interest of time and to ensure that it gets completed I will likely do random brackets with a winners/losers. Means everyone should get at least two games and we might be able to get through it in a single day. Does this work for people?
sign me up.

thats my partner sorted...1st dibs
Ahhhh bugger, I was so up for it until the 11th. Away that weekend.
Myself, Prodigy and Taggel (if he was free) won't be able to make the 11th either
Working nights this weekend, sorry.
I am going to move it to the weekend of the 18th as I've not had chance to jump on the server and test it out along with any of this maps which I'd like to do before we start. Also it seems that a load of people can't make the 11th anyway so this works out!
I'm in as well
If there's evening games I'd be interested but daytime might be tricky at the moment.
I think this is everyone so far:
* uni
* pesteh
* sparko
* BroTo
* Mr P
* Gunda
* Hellmate
* Twig
* Addx
* Prod
* Sulky
* Sim
* LntLethal
* Chaos (?)
* JB (?)
* Taggel (?)
That is up to 8 teams so good amount. I am cautious of how long this may take to play out and I'd like to try and get it done in 1 go. It's hard enough getting everyone together as it is so drawing it out will mean it won't get finished or drag on for ages.
If it were to start next Saturday, the 18th Feb, would people be able to join from around 2-3pm? There will be quite a few games to play, downtime due to unforeseen circumstances and people needing to step away for a bit etc.. so it need to allow enough time for it to get done and not carry over.
Next weekend is a no go for me Im afraid Uni, Im AFK all weekend, But one less shouldnt stop the fun =3
I've created a collection with some maps, we will be playing some of these:

Cannon fodder reporting in.
You can count me in
No chance of afternoon gaming for me I'm afraid, would be more likely joining around 7:30pm after small child has gone to sleep :crying:
Yeah sorry I am the same can't make the afternoon due to kido
Would this be easier to organise as a 1v1?
Getting 2 people online for a match would be easier than 4. May take longer to complete though.
It might be @MikeP. The teams and rounds are already drawn but won't be difficult to change.
I actually have 2 servers setup for this so games can be run in parallel and I'll share the rcon details closer to the time so that people can join and start their own matches which should make the games quicker to get through.
Thanks to my wonderful gf she is taking the boy out so I am back in the mix.
Im going to have to pull out im afraid :(
1 - i have covid and feel like crap
2 - i am having to work today so wont be free
Never be afraid to pull out >.>
Hope you feel better soon, easy to forget COVID is still a thing as it's not in the news anywhere near as much.
Thanks those that were able to make it today. I appreicate the time was a little early and weird but based on initial interest had to make sure we could get it done and not take up all of your Saturday as I am sure you've all got other things to be doing!
Congrats to Hellmate and Gunda for going 3-0 and being the overall winners.
