Title: Is it 'disc' or 'disk'?
Post by: OldBloke on April 10, 2023, 12:48:04 PM
I wanted to know so did some research this morning.

There's lots of wordy info on the history of usage of both forms but one page gave me the easy way to remember which is the correct usage (in most cases).

If it's round it's a disc

If it's square it's a disk

Sorted :D

This is weirdly interesting, thanks!

Ha, I just assumed they were US/UK variations of spellings. TIL.

That said... what's a MiniDisc :g:Isn't that a square?

Music Industry - disc
Computer Hardare - disk

I can't cope with this rabbit hole :)
