well I have a whole new install. ready for the LAN.
INstalled CS from scratch using steam, but it hasn't given me any friggin maps. sooooo...where can I get them all in one hit, plus directiry structure?
All standard maps are included in the counter-strike.gcf file you can find in the SteamApps folder.
If you want to install maps/sounds/gfx etc you should install them to
C:\Games\Steam\SteamApps\benny@deadmen.co.uk\counter-strike\cstrike\
and just add the Maps, sounds, gfx etc folders there.

nope, no maps.....the only thing I can think of is to connect to MH now and let it idle through all the downloads.
You have all the standard maps (dust, dust 2, aztec etc). They are embedded in the file I mentioned above. All the non standard maps however you need to download.
ok fella, how do I get them out of that file?

Have you tried the old delete the registry.blob file?
I have no idea what you are talking about.

There is a file called ClientRegistry.blob found in this folder
C:\Games\Steam\
Delete that file and then start steam. You will be required to log in again but it usually solves many problems.
idid the same thing as u benny just used steam to get my cs running ...then all i did was scoure the net for mappaks and such like your bound to get the odd download when connecting to a server cos of little sound files and such like but the blob is a bitch get rid as the wise fella sed and stick at it :nevermind:
hmm.....I think it's working........damned piece of cr4p.
