Title: HLSW
Post by: OldBloke on October 18, 2002, 12:09:33 PM
Can all admins please download this tool as I've found it to be invaluable.

Go to:  http://www.hlsw.de/ (http://www.hlsw.de/)

There's a link to the English version of the site.

Current version to download is: 0.4.2c

Install it and point it at the Meat hook. The rcon link has stopped working for me since BA was installed but I've asked DM to look into it.

This is a nice powerful tool. :) I guess the reason rcon isn't working because the pword has been changed?

The rcon password hasn't changed (although it should as only admins should be aware of it).

I'll give you all a demo of it's remote rcon facilities when it can talk to BA but it's pretty well neutered 'till then.

There is an issue with Admin Mod that means the admin auth only lasts until the map change.  i.e.  You join the server and rcon works, map changes and rcon no longer works.

Luckily there is a (partial) fix for this which is going on BA now...

Can't use port 3000 as suggested. HLSW is fixed 7130-7139.

Yes i get a green light when pressing "test" but i have no idea how to use this thing or how to talk because when it says "Get log" it says it cant..

Hangon ive just looked at it to see wat the "Get log" button was called and re-tested the test button and all it says now is unknown.....keeps coming up in the console echo test though

Erm did that make sense /me has had a long day

OldBloke meekly enquires if that nice Mr DogMeat has had a chance to look into why HLSW won't talk rcon to the server.

OldBloke also readies himself for the reply which will almost certainly contain the words 'broom' and 'TANGO'.  8O

QuoteOldBloke meekly enquires if that nice Mr DogMeat has had a chance to look into why HLSW won't talk rcon to the server.

Yes.  It's because HLSW has ports hard-coded into the program.  This makes HLSW a worthless POS as far as Doggers is concerned, and therefore he intends to get on with more important stuff like setting up the match server.

In the meantime, admins might want to use this http://www.deadmen.co.uk/files/csadmin.pae (http://www.deadmen.co.uk/files/csadmin.pae) for remote control of MH.  The unzip password is the same as rcon and it connects on port 3000 (not hardcoded, BTW).

For the unitiated (that'll be me then), what exactly does one do with a .pae file (other than the obvious 'shove it up your jacksi' answer)?

Waiting patiently to be taught......

TL.  8)

PS  Anyone else had their config file go fubar recently?  Earlier this evening my config changed the binds unilaterally for the number keys 1-0 so that "1" was bound to "adm1", "2" to "adm2" etc.  What was that all about?  Any clues?

Compared to HLSW it's barely adequate. Other than it's invaluable ability to stop/start the server then there's nothing to recommend it over HLSW.

Hardcoded ports or not - in the past HLSW has been an essential part of the job I do for the clan and I would dearly like to have it working again. At least then I could try and convince the other admins of it's worth.

Question is this also on BlackAdder?

Another question how the hell do you get this program to work...ive just put it down to me being thick..ive got both the servers up (not getting tcp/ip error now) but it flashes up quick then closes and says not connected ive tried all 3 possible passwords and the same thing happens.

/me knows hes thick but just needs a nudge form someone to get him going

HLSW can see the server (tried 27015 and 27016), and it pings them, but no rcon :(

ok, I 'think' I know what I did. I added the match server, this showed 'Unknown' I then went to the 'Change Level' tab and clicked 'Update' then going back to the 'Rcon Config' tab it shows OK!

But it fails when you attempt to get a log. Is this what needs that port?

In the console tab send:

logaddress xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx 7130

Where xxx etc is your proper IP address. Router peeps need to forward port 7130 to their internal IP address.

This kicks HLSW into life. I never needed to do this with Homer but at least we have a workaround.

For some reason it has all of a sudden started working for me? Dont know why but im not going to moan.
As some of you may have noticed i was having a play with it the other night and yep you can do almost anything to the server and keep and eye on the game ie:- what is going on in console....but what use is it i cant keep an eye on the game to see if anyone is being an TANGO all i can do is keep an eye on console and the chat banner..
Is there something im missing?
Title: HLSW
Post by: OldBloke on October 27, 2002, 04:08:38 PM
You're not missing a thing. In fact you've hit the nail on the head.  8)

HLSW is a remote rcon tool. You would need to be watching HLTV in a window to 'see' what's happening.

What is does is allow you to remotely configure the server, send messages, check players against your WONID database e.g. when a player named 'Player' enters the server his WONID is checked against the database you hold locally to see if he's been on the server before with a different name. I got JB thinking I was psychic when he kept joining the server with different names and I would welcome him with a 'Hello JB'. I think I got you a couple of times as well Smitey  :D .

It allows you to kick, ban, unban, warn, map change, CVAR change, monitor and loads of other stuff.

It also allows you to trawl thru the logs it keeps (server log and chat log - set up in settings) to gather evidence of lameness.

So oldie where is this log that i can find out what has been happening in previous days and the one where you keep finding peoples aliases?

On HLSW it shows what mods are installed it used to say CLanmod V1.80.19, statsme V2.6.16 and then Adminmod (cant remember version numbers after) but it is missing on both servers for me now but used to be there about 2 weeks ago
Title: HLSW
Post by: OldBloke on November 10, 2002, 10:55:01 AM
I know Doggers is trying to get both servers running totally independant of each other (so that Baldric's configs can be entirely match based) so maybe it's a result of that work.
Title: HLSW
Post by: OldBloke on December 08, 2002, 06:57:43 PM
When HLSW is working again (hopefully soon) then it's worth introducing this small mod to allow multiple HLSW users to see the server logs simultaneously.

At present, if I 'm watching the logs and another admin asks to see them then they are redirected away from me. With this addon that shouldn't happen:

That would be a good idea, as I knwo that this has probably happened to 'us' on a couple of occassions now.  It's not too much of a worry for me at the moment though as you seem to give up pressing the 'Get Server Log' button after I've nicked it from you about 20 times   :D
