OK, I'll help.

First, check the reg key - the one you want does nto exist.

Second, PM me *your* reg settings and I'll edit them for you.

Hence the different registry structure.  You need to find someone else using 98SE to help you.....and in that respect I have only two things to say:  Good Luck and...... MEDIC !!

The easy option here is to uninstall Cs and reinstall it. Messing with the registry if you don't know what you are doing can open up a whole new can of worms!!

Am I missing something? I have been playing HL/CS for a number of years (not that it shows) and have never had to touch the registry

well ,y got overloaded or summin so when it tried to load CS is said the summin isnt supported so it loads in software mode which for sum reason makes my moniter go into standby, so i was tring to find the thing to change in the reg to get it bak to normal graphics mode :) if that makes any sense!!!

Have you recently upgraded your graphics card drivers. It sounds like it doesn't like either OpenGL or DirectX (whichever you were using) and is now defaulting the program to software mode. If you edit the command line to start the program to run in a window instead of full screen it should allow you to set a mode that works for you before then returning to full screen mode. Can't remember the caommand for doing this; its something like -window 800x600 but do a google search and you should find it.

HTH?

-window is enough for so far i know or knew.

With 1.5 is was enough but with 1.6 i don't know.

try it, it's fun, once a week I delete a random registry setting, it's like computer lottery, see how many you can do before it borks.

I've done as well! Also - collect a virus - see how many you can get on a week of normal use on your machine! My record is 10 :D
