Title: Aieee! HL Crashing!
Post by: Tutonic on October 19, 2002, 10:23:59 PM
Just when I thought everything was hunkey-dorey :(

At seemingly random events, hl.exe crashes, screen freezes, and I get a lovely XP error box asking me to send information to Microsoft :?

Me specs:

AMD Athlon XP 2100+
512meg DDR333 ram
GeForce 4 MX 440 (Det drivers 30.82, also tried the 40.72 beta ones, same problem)
Asus A7V333 motherboard
VIA Motherboard chipset (latest 4 in 1 drivers)
C-Media (onboard) soundcard, latest drivers

Any suggestions? Other games are running without any problems, and i've tried various driver combinations, nothing seems to help

What OS?

I run win98se and use Nvidia Det 28.11
Got a friend that uses XP and runs at 21.xx

Could be a det issue. It has happened before.

I used to get similar probs with an old TNT card only when in OpenGL. The only cure for it was to UNDER clock the card.

Windows XP Pro, with SP1 installed.

I would try some older det drivers, but I dont know where to get hold of any :-/
