Title: Stopping the CZ Preload
Post by: Gh0st Face Killah on March 19, 2004, 12:51:05 PM
Shamelessly poached from the steam forums. But as this download has been causing some problems for people thought I'd post it for us.

First way:
-------------
1) Close Steam
2) Open Steam\SteamApps (or whatever your steam directory is)
3) Delete 'Condition Zero.gcf'
4) Create a .txt file.

Make sure WindowsXp option: "Hide Extensions of Known File Types" is off (under 'Tools -> Folder Options -> View'). If this option is on, you will not see the .txt extension, and thusly will not be able to change it to .gcf.

5) Rename the .txt file to 'Condition Zero.gcf'
6) Set it to Read-Only.

If in the future you want to install CZ you'll need to make sure to remove this file you have created or it wont install.

Second way:
----------------
open steamappdata.vdf in steam/config with notepad and do a search for "condition zero". set "preload" to "0".

You are playing with the Steam files here, so your on your own if it explodes. It shouldnt but you never know.
