Post by: -Trip- on March 19, 2004, 05:32:15 PM
What you all think about it then?

A few things a noticed i didnt like from today

Music is a bit much :/
No medic
Radios changed to much
Not as wide range of weapons, Such as medic SMG :(

Other then that i like it :) Needs a patch thow :(

I love it, tearing around in a huey with the music blaring out is quality :D

The lack of a Medic is a slight dissapointment, I dont think it detracts too much from the game though. Hopefully they'll add the class in a patch. As for the weapons, each class gets to pick from two main weapons and gets to customize their appearance somewhat. I'd say thats plenty :)

My only gripe is the US Anti-Armour class. Having an M60  and a LAW/M90 basicly turns you into a god of destruction

All in all its a cracking game :)

I played about with my settings and cleaned up my HDD, Also i got a different driver i got 5.6.6.4.

And the game runs no problems. I don’t know if E.A puts it in every manual but on page 4 it says to clean your system before use. (Disk Defragmenter etc)

And for the record there is “medic” but only on a few maps. Everyone gets to it.

Yea on some maps you actually play as special forces, so the weapons are different and you tend to get given medpacks. Although I haven't actually bothered to use one yet, the weapons are so lethal that if you get hit your pretty much dead...

Just to re-iterate Ninja's point - This is a full game or a mod?

Only reason I say is that I was reading a consumer review on Amazon and they mentioned it was a mod.  Then again when are those reviews ever accuarate.....

Full game. Wait and buy it until you had a first hand look at the LAN.

It's a complete game in it's own right as Sadako says. However it is aimed mainly at the multiplayer market.

There is a single player element which is mostly a map full of Bots, sort of like CZ. There's no real narative like COD or MOH. In fact I've found it an eye opening experience comparing CS:CZ to BF-V

Sort of like comparing me to Brad Pitt  <_<

Sorry to bring up an old topic, but I just bought this after a few recommendations and have to say how utterly disappointed I am with this.  The only good things it's got going for it are the soundtrack (excellent) and the vehicles (although everyone in multiplayer just seems to run for the nearest Huey or jet - the jeeps and boats are lefti idling).

The bots are moronic and are nowhere near the decent standards of CZ.  Their shooting on medium levels is pathetic, and they simply don't respond to commands or work co-op.

The steaming jungles of Khe Sahn?  Pah.  More like the rolling hills of Virginia.  Never once do I get the sense I'm in jungle warfare.  Vietcong, for all of it's many, many limitations created much better jungle environments.

The graphics, let's be honest, are amateurish at best (even on the highest rez).

And the gameplay is so one-dimensional with it's focus on holding strategic points - why oh why didn't they go for something like the "assault" missions on UT2004?  Anything to break up the monotony and repetitiveness.

I never played BF1942, so was looking forward to this.  Now I wish I'd saved my £20

This game went down a treat at the lan!!  I too was thinking along your lines when i first got it, but it seemed so much better at the lan.   As for the bots we had a game at the lan bots on one side us on the other and we were getting a hiding!  <_<

As a single player game it's dire (although not even in the realms of the great abortion that is CZ. At least it actually had some new maps, guns and gameplay styles).

As a multiplayer game it's also dire unless you can get on a very good server, and there are a few out there. If you can get into a game with 30 people, who all want to play properly as a team, share the vehicles and play both sides, then this game is a winner. Sadly it seems you have a snowballs chance in hell of finding one on a public server.

However as a LAN game it was, as Onion said, Stellar.  The Sunday morning game was an absolute riot.

Surely Smilo's point begs a dMw BF:V server? :D  ;)

But no war games at this moment let you play with cars helicopters etc so i think this is the best of the bunch even if ppl hog the vehicles.

Bump!!!!!

I've just bought the game from the giftchecques they gave at work so I'm going to install it this weekend.

Who's got it and plays it online? I had a blast at the LAN on this game. So if you have a server you play alot on, then plz let me know.

Or you could just lacerate your eyeballs with a dull soup spoon over the course of a weekend - a lot more enjoyable, trust me  ;)

You should have used those gift vouchers to buy some Heineken and visited one of them there "cafes" you have :)  A lot more "relaxing" :)

I couldn't use it on any alcoholic beverages (otherwise would have spend it on a couple of crates of Grolsch and have a few m8s over to watch the game of tomorrow  ;) ). It was a giftcheque which you could only spent in one store. I allready wanted to have BF. I liked it alot at the LAN and the shop had it.

About that soupspoon, nah, how do I have to play without my eyeballs, I don't know if the Grolschhax is that mighty :) .

At the LAN it was genius and I could have played it for days. In fact I think we did :)

As a single player game...well it isn't a single player game no matter what they say on the box.

As a public server game it's good as long as you get a server with sensible people on it. And they are very few and far between. And it still screams out for voice comms.

Sadly my copy is long gone from my PC for the above reasons

Anyone here with some serverIP's which they visit?
