Title: Graphics problem - Help Pleeeeezzzzeeee
Post by: SecretSquirrel on October 20, 2002, 03:45:03 PM
Just upgraded to XP2000+. Asus A7v8x MB and a 256meg stick of 400mhz Ram.

OS is XP + SP1
Geforce3 Asus V8200 with Nvidia 40.72

Upgrade went surprisingly smoothly except for one niggly thing...whenever i try and open the Geforce3 tab from Display/settings i get an error ......"Run a DLL as an App encountered a problem".

The driver quoted is RunDLL32.exe

This means i cannot change any of the display properties, o/c or anything.

I did try some older drivers but made no diff.

Ideas would be appreciated

Thanks

That sounds like the same problem as 40.41 drivers where you need to install the drivers - uninstall drivers - then re-install drivers and hey presto the tab works..

Yeah, I get the 40.41 drivers to work every time but all the drivers after that do not work and I get the same error as you. However, please remember that these are beta drivers.

Yes i had similar problem with my old system but like Smite said reinstalling solved the problem - but not this time.

The other drivers i tried are the 40.41 which i still have same problems.

The other thing i thought to try was to totally remove the nvidia drivers including registry and start again with even older drivers.

Anyone know where i can get the nvidia removal programme

Goto Device Manager and uninstall the graphics card, tell it not to reboot right away.

In Control Panel, click the Add/Remove Programs thing, and uninstall anything with Nvidia in the title.

Reboot.

Run the 40.72 setup.

Reboot.

It should now work :)
