Title: They can't do that
Post by: A Twig on March 31, 2004, 11:07:37 AM
QuoteOk guys I dont kow if you are aware of this but the european politicians are planning something.

By 2007 they are making a new law wich will make gaming at home illegal. You will only be able to game in certain gaming rooms, wich will be under supervision, and you need a gaming card and you need to be over 18 to enter that room. People with a criminal record are not going to be allowed in these gaming rooms.

Reason for this is the concern tat more and more people are influenced by games to do nasty things in real life.

They are also planning to make certain games illegal in europe by 2005.

So what do you think about this, and FYI im not bullshitting here. They are really planning to do this.

A mate of mine just posted this, any ideas, anyone heard anything about it??? :o

Not heard a thing about it so if anyone has anymore info on this it would be helpful. Altough the logistics of implementing such a scheme would be horrific and cost millions and millions and trying to police it would be an absolute nightmare. I imagine and hope they will be persuaded that this is not a good idea as it will be too costly.

they will not do it.

Microsoft and amd and intel etc. will not agree with it.

It will cost them also money because people will not buy pc's and the other stuff.

It just cost to much money.

I'm happy to confirm this to be poop.

You may remember that a while back Greece banned computer games in Cyber Cafes in an attempt to stop on-line gambling.

It's not law anymore.

Why did Greece do a complete about face?

Because the EU threatened them with legal action as a ban would be in breach of existing EU law.

So the EU have already stated that gaming is protected in law.

No worries then   :D  :D
