I have a slight problem, my PC is in a room with wooden flooring = lots of dust.
This regularly gets sucked into my PC and short of regularly opening it up and cleaning out all the fans, or replacing the floor, are there any other methods of stopping all this dust? I have already lost one gfx card to the fan getting clogged and the card overheating :(
Dust Filters on the fans that suck air into the case. I know you can get these but I'm not sure where from. The main problem you have is that the pc is highly charged with static and as you know this attracts dust like nobodys business. Another option is to make sure its not sitting on the floor.
Yeah I have mine in a kind of wooden frame in my desk, about an inch off the wooden floor.
I also take the hoover to it every month (don't open the case, just take it round the back to get most out)
Cheers peeps, I'll give it a try, if anything goes bang, I'll send to invoice to the above signatories ;)
A quick look turned up these: (http://www.ncix.com/products/index.php?sku=9248&vpn=CO-F8CM)
Will they restrict airflow though? cos my PC is already a bit hot as it is... :o
I got an old pair of tights and stuck them over the holes to filter out the dust. Don't know if they work though as I haven't opened up the PC since. ;)
But I'll give it a clean before the Lan so I should be able to provide a report then.
Oh by they way they weren't fishnets ;) :dribble:
I may do that, I'm sure i can persuade the better half that she doesnt need them, after all summer is round the corner :D
Try passive cooling using a water cool setup..... if ever you needed the excuse now you have it.
:o :o :dribble: :eyebrow:
