And you guys know I'm not just bullshiting as you've seen me shoot with a scout.
What speed is your connection? Your rates do seem a little out of whack to me based upon my ISDN connection......
TL.
They bloody registered on me enough times!
If you are on bb rate 12000
cl_cmdrate 60
cl_updaterate 60
would prob be a good place to start. every connection is different so you will probably have to adjust abit but your cmdrate looks abit high to me!
and do I adjust the updaterate and cmdrate up or down from 60?
George^
down. both values are hardcoded into the HL engine as a max of 60. Consequently, setting them to greater than 60 has absolutely no effect :)
Any idea on how low I can actually set up with my connection?
It's a DSL connection not the 1mb/sec but the one below that.
Also I'm having problems with getting the POD Bot for 1.6 working, if anyone runs it let me know in a PM or on friends list if they ever get the dang thing up I think it's down again.

With a 512k DSL connectio I would set your rate to 12000 and the others to 60 and leave it at that as a good starting point. Play with that for awhile to see how it goes before deciding to fiddle.
I have a "rates.cfg" file that i execute each time i start CS (it gets called from the userconfig.cfg file). That way I know exactly where to go to adjust settings for anything that might have a rate associated with it.
Contents of my rates.cfg:
// This file contains rate specific settings
rate 12000
cl_cmdrate "60"
cl_updaterate "60"
fps_max "100.0"
fps_modem "100.0"
sensitivity "3.000000"
I also seem to have a problem with rates etc. What would you recommend for an ADSL connection (from the Netherlands) that supposedly runs at 8192 Kbps / 1024 Kbps. If you need a traceroute summary I can get one tonight.
Thanks

Cheers BB you posted this before and I was trying to find it but couldn't. Going to try this to see if it helps with my frame rate problem.

It will vary by server. Our server has its rate capped at 12000 so no point in setting a rate greater than that for it. Other servers may be as high as 20000. (or maybe 25000 cannot remember precisely)
As i said, the cl_cmdrate and cl_updaterate are both hard coded to a max of "60"
