Title: LAN Seating and IP's

I have made a seating plan and run it past TL with the thumbs up.

What i need is the IP numbers (192.168.200.1) being given so i can allocate number to attendee.
I will be making table labels and laminating.

TL suggested name tags...would this be used? If so i will make some up.

Name tags help peeps remember who's who - I was thinking of the ones used at conferences where it sits on the front of the desk - only this time put them on top of the monitor!

Should i make certain shape so that it can sit on any monitor? suggestions please.

Doesn't really matter as we'll attach it with duck tape or similar.  But if you want a shape then got for a rectangular piece of paper where you have enough length to write the name along the top third of the sheet - then fold the paper in a line about 1/3rd down the width (so the fold os along the length) and then again 2/3rds down the width.  If you then tape the top and bottom of the width you end up with a space plane.  Nah, honest, it will be a long triangular sectioned name plate that can easily be taped to the top of the monitor :D

If you do it that way then you can have the name on the front and back of the monitor :D therfore everyone can see who you are ;)

Tell me please how this two NIC thing will work. I have 2 NICs in my comp each connected to a separate switch. How will my comp know if someone is browsing my share over one NIC and not the other. Can I select to share my share over one NIC only if you catch my drift?

Not a network guru here so go easy on me.  :huh:

smite, stick the IP address on the monitor name tag also!  it will prevent all this "oi so and so whats your address so I can get such and such file?"  "hey fatty I'm talking to you!"  "hey bitch!"  (tables start flying etc)  :huh:

I'll admit to not wanting to be the one to post the plan because I had guessed that some peeps would not warm to it - they always shoot the messenger  :whistle:

It's a sound idea, but you can never please all of the people all of the time.   :(

The name cards are still an A1 idea though so let's run with them anyway.

The seating plan stands.

I have PM'd all the people who have an issue.

Smilo didn't like the idea of being told where to sit but seems happier now i have explained the meaning behind it.

Ninja just wants to sit next to Benny ....

JB doesnt want to sit nest to swiss because he moans a lot.


All of these i have asked to speak to people on the day if they would mind swapping and non of them are now bothered.
