Title: Popping in..
Post by: Rabbi Bob on April 21, 2004, 11:48:13 AM
Hi all,

Been having some great games with Duvel, Ice and others on FR25, so I figured I'd look around and see what dMw is all about.

/me takes Duvel's grenade buying privs away

Myself, the wife and lil' Erin are in the process of moving (just purchased our first house!), but I hope to be back online soon and catching some more games along the way.

Cheers,
Bob

p.s.  If you haven't had your head crushed recently, please click -> HERE -< (http://www.rabbibob.com/galleria/albums/userpics/32004/Erin_03302004_15.jpg)  and say "I'm Crushing Your Head!" out loud

/me borrows the already infamous pic

I died immediately after you

From time to time I have issues with my connection to FR25 (I'm across the pond) and it tends to lag.  I was running up the small ramp on inferno, the screen jerked a couple of times, everyone jumped and when it all came back to smooth play, you were flying through the air and I was right behind you.

and the coup de grace had to be the server message about the ban.

I couldn't stop laughing for a minute or so.  It was hilarious.

Looks like a lot of reading to do around here :)

Aye. It is a very active forum in comparison to e.g FR25.  :dmw:

I'm across the pond aswell, that is the small pond tho. I'm Dutch but you're probably American. Server is in Britain right?
The map was lousy there but some of the fellas in the team were terrible. They would all stand in on place and would never rush. Just bunk up and get naded. Otherwise a CT would have had the 3 kills.
Atleast the admins of the server got me unbanned almost right away, phew. Good adminning.

BTW: found all your lims and so after the nade? Hopefully you didn't get mixed up with another T.

Yep, I live in Maine (all the way north and east), the place that the rest of America says 'isn't that part of Canada?'.  I know we have one member who is Dutch (FoCA|Partekk).

Great bunch over there.  I play on my lunch break usually (1PM EST) and our home servers have little players at that time, so I tend to get on FR25,which due to the time diff is almost always full.  Makes for fun games.

I just added the dMw servers to my list and the pings are all the same as FR25.   :dribble:

'Baldric' - Black Adder??

Aye. It is from the TV sitcom Blackadder.

We have three CS servers

Meat Hook (TCS server)
Homer (TCS server)
Baldric (Match server)

and one CS:CZ server.

I am also across the pond btw but in Sweden. :)

There's a pond near me too. Well more of a lake really. It doesn't seem to affect my pings though.

This is a half-paste from a thread over on FR25's boards.  I wanted to make mention of it here and say thanks

QuoteLearning alot from you guys both here on FR25 and on your servers. It has been making a positive impact on my game, and while I still can't aim, having a strategy amazingly helps compensate for alot. Great change up from the usual "rushndie" scenarios.

Bearing in mind that I can't always use my mic when the baby is napping in the other room (she latches onto my voice and wakes up no matter how soft), I'm appreciative of the communication that goes on.  You guys bring vcomm to another level, albeit where it should be everywhere, but that is simply an opinion.

One thing I'm really happy about here is the level of patience.  As I've stated above, I come from the headrushing form of CS, which while it is fun, it isn't really ever fulfilling.  My first natural tendency is to do just that.  I could go into all the different things I've seen in the last couple of weeks from just paying attention to the style of play here, but I won't.  Suffice to say that paying attention and keeping an open ear for both direction and critiscm pays off.

So, thanks.  In case you think I'm off my rocker know this: I am off my rocker, but I'm 30, a new dad and a new home owner.  Where I choose to spend my time being off my rocker is now very important and the atmosphere here is great.

/holds up a pint

Cheers

wwweeeehheeeeee ;)

It is good to hear that people like the way how we play and that they learn much (or some things) from us.

I dunno what to say more.

Just: good luck with your new home and with your family ;)  <-- they are on the first place then cs

Lo Rabbi, I intend to be a bit impatience on my VC but I'm still learning the correct way of TCS still as we speak. Some GG's the other night and I hope you'll be joining the server a few more times then. When the dMw fellas want a fraghunt we tend to go to the CoFRserver but I really like the TCSstyle more in the end. Getting the objective done with a whole team is better then running around like a madman with clogs.

Yes duvel remember the yoga lessons we gave u at the LAN breath through your nose, cs is your friend not your enemy! ;) I was discussing our TCS just the other day Rabbi on one of our other threads. I agree not rushing like some servers where there is no team play breaks the cs community up but our small TCS clan is making inroads into how cs should be and will eventually be played in the future! ;)

I caught that thread, good one.  Brought up the 'Plan B' option.

I think Duvel will have me writing out "I will not advance when I can let them come to me" 100 times on a chalkboard before the week is out

Well, PTB on the CoFRserver was way off yesterdaynight. It was better for us not to rush but to try and pick them of. We were outnumberd by 2 players and we were loosing and PTB didn't do a thing. Best thing to do is pick them off, move away quietly and wait for some people with clogs to appear and get them before the turn around the corner. On de _train last night was fun. I hear T's rush in on the left, I toss in a nade and FB and take out 3 T's untill I got shot. Some kid: Duvel do you have the response time of Superman  :lmfao:

the underdog owns.

On de_aztec we got our arses wiped because we rushed them. Never go through the double doors unless the last 1 is afk.
