Title: Continued absence
Post by: Zok on May 02, 2004, 02:24:09 PM
Hmmmm, many moons ago (January to be exact) Mrs. Zok and I decided our bathroom was in need of some long needed maintenance, the steel bath was chipped and stained and the cold tap had never worked since me moved in nearly three years ago, the sink taps didn’t match and the toilet, well, it looked like a toilet. So in a fit of DIY frenzy we purchased a new bathroom suite.

Several months later I’m afraid that Mrs. Zok is fed up of looking at the bath propped up in the corner of the bedroom (the toilet and sink are currently residing in the spare bedroom) and after much asking, pleading, poking, punching and kicking I finally gave a date as to when I would place the components for our new bathroom in the desired position. Unfortunately in a moment madness I said “I’ll fit it when I get back from the LAN”.

Well the first week was spent mainly digging the tiles off the walls and generally making a poor impersonation of making a start. Well today things got serious, we now have no bath, no sink, and the only loo available is downstairs and outside. Now many of you may think that fitting a bathroom is a fairly routine thing to do, but if you understand that my DIY skills are akin to Dingo’s computer building skills then I’m sure you all understand my problem. Now if things go well I could be back and playing in about a week, on the other hand, I may have murdered my wife and be I the middle of a siege in the centre of Leicester (must read tactics for cs_seige).

See you all real soon

Zok

One cut finger, one pair of basin taps lost (f**k knows where they are) and one torrential waterfall over the kitchen door to, which my wife commented “isn’t that pretty in the sunlight”, oh how I laughed.

........on the other hand you could be sending the bath back as it is not compatable with Windows (presuming you have them fitted) and then wait six weeks for the outcome!!

Then again you could always tell Mrs Zok that bath's are "old fashioned" and the "sunlight shower" idea is all the rage at the mo?.............

.......then again perhaps you had better kill her before she kills you!!!!

Just hit a very unimportant (where playing CS is concerned) finger very hard with a hammer and not only do you get to play but you get tea and sympathy as well  :)

Day 16

We now have a sink (which leaked for a week), a toilet, but still no bath. My office at work is now a very quite place, no more meetings or even social visits, and no one will come to the pub with me. On a brighter note I have found that getting to the bar is a lot easier as people seem to make way for me, and I have made several new friends, I’ve even given them names, there’s Freddy, Ferdinand, Flynn, Fraser and Fergus.

One pongy Zok signing off

So much fun I made three... :D

It's the running costs and ongoing maintenance that are the problem....

Buy the new house, in the long run it's cheaper and a lot less hassle  :P

and one torrential waterfall over the kitchen door
This may be a beginner's question, so bear with me:

How the heck did a plumbing leak from the bathroom find its way downstairs and then draw itself up to leap up over the kitchen door?
