When playing on a public server you have a good chance of doing really well if you play wisely. It is good fun to out think your opponents and the bonus knife kill sits extra well. How do we achieve a good result on a server then? I will summarize some ideas posted in this forum.
- Sound combined with radar is the key to doing well on a public server. On most public server most people run around with clogs and make unnecessary sounds e.g. weapons switching, knife stabbing, breaking windows and vents etc. Walk or crouch walk (to be silent yourself) as much as possible to pin point the enemies locations by sound. Use the radar to differentiate friend from foe.
- Play TCS! Surprise the enemy by going for the objective. Sounds strange maybe but I can't count the times I have rushed in on office and grabbed the hostages without meeting any enemies (busy rushing offices) or rushing through the new route on Inferno and planting the bomb immediately in the beginning of a round.
- Be sneaky. Use clever positions and let the enemy run past your hiding spot to be shot from behind. On any public server you will find some players that think CS is quake. Get the easy kills! Stay cool and out think your opponent.
- Plant/Defuse to get extra money (and kills).
- Take your time. Just because everyone rushes to their deaths doesn't mean you have to.
- Save your HE to the end of the round. The enemy will be on low health and the HE will be lethal.
- Use your team members as bait. Yup it is evil. But sometimes there are players on your team that just play like fools and you can take an advantage of that. They attract the attention and you pick the enemies off.
- Team up. If you find a player that has his head screwed on correctly, team up and take down the enemy together. If you see a friend on the server join the same team. Avoid teamstacking and obvious unbalancing of the game though. dMw have a good reputation out there and we want to keep it.
Good luck. :)
Excellent tactics Mats, it's the way how I fraghunt on publcservers aswell. On the CoFRserver, just make sure you have a CoFR in your team, they're allways willing to give a certain tactic a go.
Excellent commenst matt i agree about the he grenades and about early objective completion! Great ideas thanks for sharing them!
