There are some known problems caused by the recent Steam updates which are contributing to the major outages we're seeing on the servers.
One of these is the AMXX mod we run on our CZ server. While this problem is being addressed by the AMXX mod team I have turned off AMXX on the CZ server.
Who's your provider for the servers?
We use a remarkable outfit called Crosswired. (http://www.crosswired.co.uk/)
Crosswired Ltd, And very nice guys they are too ;) :)
Bunch of amatuers if you ask me.

We have identified the cause of the lag and have created a fix for it.
Updated game dlls will be released via Steam next week.
In the meantime we have a hotfix available, the updated game dlls can be downloaded from:
http://www.steampowered.com/drop/06232004_...ke_gamedlls.zip (http://www.steampowered.com/drop/06232004_cstrike_gamedlls.zip)
Unzip this file into the cstrike/dlls directory.
The md5 sums of the updated game dlls are:

1c4d3d4d073be72829e8d81dce59a4c7 cs_amd64.so

- Alfred
I take it that the hotfix is for servers not clients? :)
Hopefully a solution. I'm having big lagspikes from 3-4 seconds on the MH and on publics nothing. Let's hope it's fixed.
Cheers for the info TL.

Yes this is for servers, sorry, I should have mentioned that :( It was just to let you peeps know that hopefully the lag spikes should disappear either through this server hotfix ro through the steam update next week.
TL.
No probs. The post was just to check :)
Have the servers been upgraded with the fix?
If so I don't think much of their fix as I had some hideous lag problems on the cz server earlier today. I ran pingplotter just to be sure it wasn't my connection.

As you can see the telecomplete router still causes problems but nothing that major.
I patched them this morning at about 9am :(
Sorry GFK, we tried, but I guess we'll have to wait for the steam update next week :(

Thanks TL, but I think the matter is out of our hands. After all we are but mortals compared to the god like company that runs steam..........
As the AMXX guys have also fixed their jobbie, I have re-instated AMXX on the CZ server and converted our CS servers to AMXX (AMX is no longer supported).
Please post any feedback here.
Do we have to fiddle with t' config file or owt like that?
Can't spell
