Title: Pre and post match Guide

Arrange Fixture

Using Enemy Down:

When you book a match you MUST always review the team that you want to challenge:

What is their skill level?  Look at their past opponents, see any you recognise and can use as a yardstick?
Where are they in the ladder?  Are they going up or down due to a good run of luck or a continuing series of results?
Are they currently active in the ladder? (some really nice looking clans have been hibernating in the ladder and simply do not respond to challenges).
What is their challenge/challenged/no shows/dispute ratio like?
Read the comments - do they have any black flags or bad reps?
Once you have found a potential clan to challenge, check their notes for their T&C's. Do they insist on FFoff? Do they only play on certain maps?
Check the nights they play on - are they compatible with the nights we want a match on?
Do they already have a match booked?
Do we have a free slot to play them - when?
Which map should we challenge on?
Remember - team size is variable in ED but 5v5 is the norm.

Then, after all that, issue the challenge.  The terms should include:
FFon, FCC2, 35C4, 4 minute rounds, knives to start.

QuoteNote: All home matches should have a password of: dmwwar

Match Day

Firstly, and most importantly, if the designated SL is not going to be around at T-minus 30 mins then appoint a deputy.

T-minus 30mins:

Check for any relevent notes on the ED match.
Check the availability pages to see if a team is selectable.
Start thinking about team selection

T-minus 20 mins

Start IRC and enter #deadmen
Discover opposition's irc room and enter.
Try to make contact "Hi. All OK for match at xx:xx?"
Start HLSW and, if match is 'away', monitor opposition's server.

T-minus 15 mins

Firm up team selection and broadcast to both irc and any dMw servers with players on.
Deal with any last minute availability/technical problems - designate a substitute if deemed necessary.
If home match, setup server for match by changing map and adding password. Inform oppo that server is ready. Remind them of IP and PW.

T-minus 5 mins

Ask selected team to join match server.
Stay in irc until all members are in.
Use 'Friends' to contact any strays and get your substitute to join server if needed.
Join server yourself if you are in the team.

On the server

If dMw are hosting - welcome the opposition.
Say 'Hi' anyway. :)
Again, check that there are no issues with the team (you may have to ask the sub to leave if the original team are now all connected happily).
Monitor the number of players from the opposition.
Use the following command to ensure the same map will be used for both halves of the match:

Quotercon amx_nextmap mapname

Away Match:

Check that the match rules are in force - FF, map, FCC etc.
Only the SL should respond to any messages directed towards dMw.
Only the SL should initiate any match-related messages towards the opposition.
Remind team to record demos if required.
When/if asked if ready to start respond 'Yes' if you are happy to do so.
At the conclusion of the knife round, choose your team quickly (if knife round won) and tell the oppo your decision. Swap teams quickly if required.

Home match:

Make sure your rcon and AMX is working.
Only the SL should respond to any messages directed towards dMw.
Only the SL should initiate any match-related messages towards the opposition.
Remind team to record demos if required.
When both teams appear to be ready, enter this command:

Quotercon exec ready.cfg

This will ask the oppo if they're ready to start the match.

When they're ready, enter this command:

Quotercon exec 3rrkives.cfg

This will inform them that the knife round is live after the automatic three restarts.
At the conclusion of the knife round, choose your team quickly (if knife round won) and tell the oppo your decision. Swap teams quickly if required.

When ready to start the match proper, again ask the oppo if they're ready:

Quotercon exec ready.cfg

When they're ready, enter this command:

Quotercon exec 3rrlive.cfg

This will inform the oppo that the match is live after the automatic three restarts.

During the Match

Make sure that the professionalism and good-natured manner of our clan is maintained despite any provocation.
Generally, only team-say to be used by the non-SLs. However, a sprinkling of friendly, good-natured banter is fine.
Take a screenshot at the end of each half. Steam can do this automagically using hud_takesshots "1" but remember to clear out the bmps periodically.

At the end of first half:

Join appropriate team and check that all dMw successfully rejoined.
Ask for a pee break if necessary.
If home match - use the previous instructions to get the second half underway.

End of Match:
Plenty 'GGs' all round.

After the Match

There are lots of things to do after any match and it always helps if you can delegate some of these to volunteers.

1. Enter/confirm the score on ED.
2. Post a comment against the opposition in ED (hopefully a good one).
3. Using the screenies - update the match stats on the availability pages and add any relevent notes.
4. Input the match result into our forum (copy 'n' paste from avail).
5. Enter a match report on our forum.
6. Remove the password from Baldric if changed for match.

Just want to let you know that the 3rrlive.cfg and the other cfg:s don't render any text now that amx is turned off. You do get the restarted rounds though.

Change to rcon say instead?

Indeed. At least until we have a fixed AMX mod.

Suggestion: When you challenge on ED and enter a password always enter

edmatch

Why? If match is on baldric our team will always know the PW and can go there directly. It is convinient both when challenging and going to a match. If you don't like "edmatch" there is lots of other alternatives.

edwar
dmwwar
match
scrim

The reason I've always swayed away from using set match PWs is to stop the match being interrupted by a moron with knowledge of the PW.

However, for some time now the ED PW can only be seen by the two teams involved so:

dmwwar

 :)

I'll make it the default when adding matches to our avail pages and edit the top post.

When you book matches please follow the instructions in this post. If not it will be your problem/extra work to change every deviation from the standard MR12 config setting on our server. On away matches it will of course be their problem.
